This may not be popular here as many of us...including myself early on...were very complimentary of how he handled his recruitment. But, I've changed my mind...

They may not have trolled everyone, but they definitely played the game and did so to the max. I find it very difficult to believe that after probably 2 or even more years of being recruited, some of these guys (in this case Brown) are supposedly undecided.

I would bet if NSD was March 3rd and not February 3rd, they would have stretched this out until March 1st or 2nd. They are being complimented for letting staffs know ahead of time of his decision so the schools that came up short can move on to a plan B, but give me a break. As I stated above, they've been in the middle of this process for 2+ years...no way I'm going to think they did UT or even Georgia any favors by telling them 24-48 hours before signing day they weren't coming.

I wish the young man the best of luck. But, I sure don't think we should be giving him or his family any medals.

Seriously, if he was always close to the staff or grew up a fan, whatever. I get that, and I still wish him luck.

It just makes no sense to me though. Auburn's schedule is BRUTAL next year. If they don't show drastic, and I mean DRASTIC improvement on both sides of the ball, they could be worse.

They open with Clemson, and likely will only have a decent shot at beating Arky, Miss State, and A&M out of the West. If those 3 teams improve or Auburn regresses they could possibly go 4-8, only winning 3 of 4 OOC games and Vandy. Absolute best case scenario (again, barring serious improvement) is likely 7-5.

Even 7-5 will likely get Malzahn fired or given an extremely short leash. I just don't see the attractiveness in that program right now given the instability and unlikelihood that they drastically improve their W/L record next year.

He better hope that Steele don't pull a Clemson and get the entire staff fired......bama hanging another 50 on them will do it....then the new staff will probably go 3-4 front and make him a NT which will suck for him.

We won't have to wait on Bama to do this. Auburn plays Clemson in their first game.

Bottom line is that DB went where he wanted to go. I just hope he didn't do it for money.

The enemy of our enemy is our friend. (Just not when it comes to recruiting)

Good luck, Mr. Brown. Beat Alabama and Georgia annually. Great kid and great family. He has his head on straight, which is rare for teenagers nowadays.

For the last time, he didn't choose Steele over Shoop. He chose Garner over Stripling

Well, that's ignorant too. Stripling has a better track record of player development. Garner takes 5 stars and causes them to regress as 3 stars. Enjoy Frown Brown and the crip WR you beat us out for, we will take solace in that we landed another solid class and that we have a staff that can coach them up.

I hope he does not think he will have that kind of time to make most of the important decisions in his life.

Generally, you have a better chance to get to the next level if you get good exposure. He will do everything at AU except take up the tickets...he would make an impact here for sure, but he is the man on the plains as soon as he gets there. No shock here. Good luck to him.

Haven't gone through the last few hours, is Atlanta Vol saying anything? Is he still an insider not nah?

I wouldn't be too hard on him, or any of these guys that said UGA. It was obvious that something was going on, much the way Kongbo went down to the wire. In the end, I'm just happy we got Kongbo and UGA didn't get Brown. Other than during recruiting, I don't completely despise AU...they share two mortal foes of ours...so the glass is half full. All in all a pretty good day.

Kongbo and Byrd waited til the last minute and left schools hanging too so don't be too hard on the kid. We win some, we lose some. It was his decision and he made what he felt was best. We had an incredible haul today so let's just enjoy it.

good luck to brown but I fart in the barns general direction!!!!

Richmond last year, brown this year. Great threads. Great recruits, both coming down to the wire. I enjoyed it fellas. Time to get going on 2017. I wonder what kid will keep us all on the edge of our seats next year?

The way I see it is, he had a choice and he picked the wrong family. I feel like I gained 21 new members that wanted and chose to become part of this family. For some reason or another, he chose other people instead of us. If you don't choose us, I don't have time for you. Nothing against the kid, but he's not one of us anymore. Time to drop him and move on to the next class

Yep, I understand it's the nature of the game. But I won't fool myself in the future that it's anything but...and I'm talking about those kids that get recruited by everyone and supposedly can't make up their minds until hours before announcements. That simply doesn't compute with me.

The Kongbo thing was a circus and was pretty unique. Byrd's situation was even more unique...the coach he committed to moved on and his brother was going elsewhere. I can't compare the Brown recruitment to his in any fashion.

But, you're right...it was a fantastic day and the Vols did themselves good. And I truly love and respect the chemistry the team and coaches seem to have...the stories from the War Room today were great.

Probably explains what he meant when he tweeted he made a mistake. Another mistake was DoubleDawg coming up in this thread giving lectures when his supposed inside information was as incorrect as all of the other supposed insiders. Hopefully, we aren't as gullible moving forward when it comes to these knuckleheads.

I believe he took the cash from when the Auburn guy visited him. That's when all the CB went to Auburn, they knew. He committed right then. Then the tweet over the weekend. He'd already committed. IMO
