Vereen actually had a very nice season in a backup role/as a part-time player. He was 6th on the team in tackles (35) and 3rd in both sacks (3) and TFLs (8) behind JRM and Barnett. Not the most talented player but very productive this year IMO.

Vereen is a quietly productive DE. He just doesn't have the size or speed to consistently be a disruptive force. He makes up for it with tenacity.

IMO the biggest factor for his production or lock of production in games is match ups. He seems to have better games against OTs who are inconsistent against speed rushers. Against the more athletic guys, he has some trouble.

Derrick Brown's mother:
"Congratulation to our son Derrick @DerrickBrown90 for being a good person!! Remember you are the president and CEO of your brand"
Which coach do you know often speaks of being the CEO of something? Also, in reading between the lines she follows 4 TN coaches. The second most she follows is Auburn with 2. With all that he has said and receiving the last visit, anyone that thinks we are a long shot for Brown is delusional.
Checking momma's Twitter and who she's following, that's what I call giving your all for Tennessee

Lol I know the whole family and don't follow them on twitter...everything I have ever been told , he grew up an Auburn fan. Whoever does end up with DB is more than likely getting his younger brother as long as he keeps developing.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Derrick Brown, Lanier (Sugar Hill)

Already firmly entrenched as the best defensive lineman in Georgia, Brown made the case that he should be considered the No. 1 D-line recruit in the nation with a spectacular senior season. Brown recorded 106 tackles (42 for loss), 12 sacks, two fumble recoveries, an interception and a blocked punt this fall. The U.S. Army All-American has a top five of Georgia, Auburn, Alabama, Mississippi State and Tennessee.

I am guessing he plays on a good team against good competition seeing as how is from Georgia, correct? If so those numbers are sick nasty.

DT Derrick Brown, Sugar Hill (Ga.) Lanier

Latest: Despite being one of the Southeast’s most sought-after prospects, Brown has tried his hardest to keep a low profile during the dead period. On Monday he said he remains focused on a group of five schools, Alabama, Mississippi State, Auburn, Georgia and Tennessee. He already has officials in the books to the Tide and the Mississippi State and will visit the remaining three once the dead period ends later this month. Most assume Georgia is still the likely destination, but Alabama has made a move since landing Jeremy Pruitt, while Tennessee and Mississippi State are also real factors.

In his words: “I talk to Tennessee every day. I talk to four or five different coaches on the staff, including coach Jones, they’re all recruiting me. I love the Tennessee coaching staff.”

Prediction: Tennessee. Brown is very tough to read but the Vols seem to have real momentum and getting the last official visit is huge.

DL talent is as good as it has ever been at UT. CBJ has accomplished this in just a few years, while having nothing to work with from the Dooley era. Very impressive feat.
