'16 GA OT Brodarious Hamm (former UT commit)

Butt hurt Auburn fan on another site - this from the school that outbid Miss. St. for Cam Newton:

Isn't it interesting that he commits to Tennessee the same time Payton donates $3M to the school.. Makes you know who paid the most for him.

Is he talking about Walter Payton? Didn't know he had a connection to Tennessee.

We need this so bad on OL. Ours looks so timid and gets pushed around. Hope this year is different

I think we see a little improvement this year, but the big jump will be in 2016 IMO. On a side note, I love what Jones and Butcher bring to the team. Their rep in the circle of life was awesome.

Second paragraph blue font implied I hope.

Don't give up on Austin yet. We both went to Bradley, so I've seen him play. He was an absolute road grader. I still think he has a great chance to start next year and also play significant snaps this year

If feels weird that hes only a RS SO. He has time, but it seems like hes a 4 star bust. I hope I'm wrong but it seems like hes already been recruited over.

How does a lineman get recruited over exactly? Five guys get rolled out there. For that matter how does any position get recruited over? Most preposterous thing I read from anybody who follows college football recruiting. Constant roster turnover and injuries and fatigue. You can't not recruit a position constantly.

? I don't get the confusion.

You get a solid QB. He comes in to a depleted roster, and is 2nd on the depth chart his freshman year. He is behind a JR, and has hopes of starting his JR year. The following cycle you add two 5 star QBs. Everybody admits that they are much more talented, and expects one of them to start within 2 years. The other QB went from a potential starter to 3rd string depth. He was recruited over.

Same thing happens at any other position. A player looks to be a major piece when you are thin at a position, and then a hot run of recruiting means that he is becoming increasingly seen as an afterthought.

Being recruited over doesn't just mean you have to compete with others, nor does it mean that you will never play again. It just means that the expectations for your playing time have shifted dramatically with a series of good recruits at your position.

Seems super plausible and very simple. No need to call someone out for discussing something that *obviously* happens.

Didn't mean to call someone out. Your response was genuine and thoughtful but doesn't make change my opinion. It's not worth arguing and my bad for stirring the pot on what was a good day.

Nice civil response, Brodarious.

I would be interested in hearing why you disagree though. Not in a hostile way (you've made sure we don't end up on that road!), but out of curiously.

I'd bet part of it it's because his dad posted on here which caused an early amount of attention and attachment to him as a recruit. I'd say, ideally, right now as a RS SO is about the earliest we should expect most of our linemen to be ready to contribute in the SEC.

Also seems like Austin has made some nice progress this Spring, hope to see it continue this fall. That would let him get some meaningful snaps and let our true FR interior linemen all RS and concentrate on S&C.
