'16 GA WR/DB Marquez Callaway (UT commit 1/21/2016)

If Coach Z was really that bad then Butch would have fired him. I thought it was definitely a possibility. We don't have any way of knowing or understanding what really goes on. He showed no hesitation in ridding himself of our DC to upgrade. That tells me that Azzani would be gone if Butch thought there was an upgrade available.

Last year the scapegoat was Mahoney. This year it's Azzani. People just want to blame somebody.

Hunter 2010 Ole Miss did on a tipped ball.

Probably had some in 2012 just can't remember.

Actually think that was the LSU game that I was referring to a few posts up. Simms was QB.

Wow! Has our roster come a long way or what?! Thanks, Butch and staff!

When was the last time someone housed a quick slant or a hitch?

Don't remember one. We used hitch routes to very good effect against Northwestern, but no big plays on them. Don't run quick slants much from what I see (which is a shame because I see other teams use that route very well off of read option action - Jacksonville State was eating Auburn with it).

The last short-catch-turned-long-TD that I remember is Croom against UK last year, which was on a screen. If we had one this year, I can't recall it.

Callaway would seem to add that ability to a roster that doesn't currently have much of it. Perry might depending on his health, and Berry does if he moves to WR, but that's it.

Jason Croom took one from like 50 on that quick screen vs Kentucky... But that's vs Kentucky so...

Yeah, that was a weird play. It looked the ball was actually a little misthrown, leading Croom farther downfield than intended, which actually worked out because it gave him a running start that created an advantage against the DB who was caught in between, trying to decide if he was going to go for the interception or make the tackle. Anyway, long story short, I think it was a bad throw that ended up working out.

Hunter definitely caught a TD pass off a tipped ball in that 2010 Ole Miss game. It was a short route over the middle and a super lucky break. We hammered them that day. I think that was actually the first play from scrimmage. Something like that. Definitely the first possession.

LET's RIDE!!!!!!

Also our last SEC West win.

That streak and the UF and Bama streaks are all getting absurd.

I think we will have a very good year if we break at least 2 of the 3 of those in the fall.

I've seen that movie,

((((spoiler alert)))

the velociraptors definitely did not ride hogs through the jungle. Just wanted to clear the air.

I've seen that movie too... and I would MUCH rather have seen velociraptors on motorcycles being that it's just about as believable as a human training with them as their alpha.

"I just felt like that was the best place for me," Callaway said. "Not just sports and the football part, but the team itself and the academic side. I just had the feeling that it was going to be the right fit. I had that vibe that this was going to be the place for me."

"I sat down at looked at every school and I just had that feeling that Tennessee was perfect," Callaway said. "They have two great quarterbacks and I feel like we can have that bond together. I think Jarrett (Guarantano) and I are going to be great together. We have already started a connection off the field and I think it's going to carry to on the field."

"I think I bring the winning edge," Callaway said. "I feel like if I'm on the team then I'm going to be in the zone and take football and see it as I'm doing it because I'm having fun. I think I make others around me better players both on the field and off."

Out and about recruiting for the Vols on Thursdayis wide receivers coach Zach Azzanni and the man they call "Z" is most definitely smiling.

"He is consistent," Callaway said."He gets straight to the point and keeps it real. That's all you can ask for. Letting things slide isn't going to make me or other players better. He's going to push you to your limit and demands perfection.

"Also adding to the comfort level is head coach Butch Jones. The top Vol has the attention of the Peach state product and in the end, Callaway has the attention of the Vol family."I love his voice," Callaway said. "I don't know if that is weird or not, but when he talks people listen. You can tell what kind of person he is when you start talking to him. He tells me that I can be a difference maker both on and off the field."

"I've been born and raised in Warner Robbins," Callaway said. "I know there is talent everywhere, but I know that us Georgia boys don't take lightly to losing so I know we are going to do anything to win. We want to put on for the 478 and my entire town of Warner Robbins."

It sure sounds like JG helped with this commitment :) There has been plenty of criticism on this site about JG not helping with other recruits, and I think that criticism was ill-founded.
