'16 KS DT Alexis Johnson (UT commit 6/16/15)

Tennessee junior-college defensive tackle commitment Alexis Johnson was back on campus for a visit during Friday's camp. At least one member of his family took advantage of the opportunity to buy some UT gear while they were in town.
Johnson said he was able to make the trip because he's still at home in the Atlanta area, and he's taking some classes this summer while he's there. He said he will report back to Kansas next month to begin preparing for his junior-college season.

Love that he's taking classes even while home in Atlanta. I don't know what lead him to junior college, but it's good to see that he is serious about getting everything in order.

JUCO PROSPECT OF THE WEEK

This week's junior college star of the week is Fort Scott C.C. defensive tackle Alexis Johnson. The massive bodied lineman is not only one of the best at his position, but one of the best overall players in the country. Johnson committed to Tennessee almost two months ago, giving the Volunteers one of the best linemen in the country.

Before all is said and done, Johnson will be amongst the elite, and his ranking should reflect that.

He not only has the potential to be a high-caliber college football player and wreak havoc in the SEC for the Volunteers, but he should be on the football field on Sundays in the future as well. He's that good.

I wouldn't really count Quinn just because he was already committed to Dools and we had to throw a class together

Chaney was in on him, but he hadn't committed before Dooley's firing. Butch decided to take a flyer on him instead of offering Brandon Vandenburg...so another great move! :yahoo:

Quinn was a Jones recruit, I can only imagine the scrambling that staff did to sign players and mend broken relationships caused by the prior regime during those first several weeks on the job

This staff is ahead of the game in their evaluations. Look at all the kids they jumped in on early that are now blowing up on recruiting sites. Alexis, Kyle Davis, Hardeman, Swain, Dickerson, Osborne, etc
