'16 LA DT D'Andre Christmas-Giles - (Former UT Commit 8/29/15)

Whichever coach has LA in their recruiting area, I'm sorry you got screwed. We should just stay out of that state.

The Vols got Jackson and Bourque. (okay maybe not a success story)

In this case, I think if it wasn't (or isn't) LSU is was going to be another school. Out of state recruits can be very tough when it gets closer to signing day. LSU got hosed when Flippy Frank flipped and LSU had pretty much shutdown QB recruiting for 6 months.

Don't whine to us...that was your mistake. All you had to do is open up a kiosk at the College Station mall and you would be fighting off QBs by the boatloads...

Nearly pointless to recruit in LA if LSU is even remotely interested

Not necessarily. I would say if we had some sort of mutual connection to the player and he was a High caliber talent then go after him. Or if he is an under the radar player then you could pursue as well. I doubt we broke the recruiting budget to recruit DC-G.

But those players with no connection and are already "discovered" like we did for DC-G, then yea forget that.

"The Fence" is a relatively new development for LSU. Dinardo built it, and Saban fortified it. Before that, schools like USC, Notre Dame, Michigan, and FSU routinely raided Louisiana (and New Orleans in particular) for the best players. Florida's the same way. The UF program didn't really take off until they became the big dog in FLA recruiting.

LSU having LA locked down is never something to take for granted.

DiNardo? We took Raynoch Thompson right out from underneath his nose.

Why go through the charade if you're gonna choose LSU?

I usually don't have a problem with the shenanigans on NSD but something about the way this kid is doing it rubs me the wrong way. He seems alot more attention seeking than the average attention seeking kid.

It's probably not very smart either. He should take the offer while he has it. It's obvious that LSU prefers other DT's and does not consider him a high priority. This new found attention could be going to his head.

Absolutely, He'd never heard of LSU if they had got their first choices at DT. I can't blame him for playing the game but he has to realize it's over when he signs.

And he kept Kevin Faulk and others from going to play for Bowden at FSU. It was the start of a trend that transformed our program from middle of the pack to elite. Like I said, it should never be taken for granted.

So......... Do we still have a shot with this guy? I realize the LSU offer was big for him. Just wondering why he hasn't committed to them I guess

No. The article linked above made it clear he decommitted because he didn't believe he could be happy in Knoxville outside football season.

This is a large reason why I question whether it makes sense to spend valuable recruiting resources in LA. There's no corndog like an LSU corndog.

Middle of the pack is being generous. LSU downright stunk when Saban came in.
