Why take the chance when we have a serious legit shot at landing Byrd, who is better and has obvious genuine interest?

I know Vonn. Tennessee never led in his recruitment. Alabama led up until the OSU visit for him. Tennessee was never going to happen.

Apparently he told the staff otherwise. So how well do you know him? Did he tell you he committed to the staff or does he act like that never happened now?

I don't know him all that well, just met him a few times back during the end of his recruitment. I know his high school position coach and his best friend very well and they both told me after he left Columbus, no other team had a chance and to not get my hopes up as a Tennessee fan

A year or so ago, I spoke with Vonn's girlfriend's mother (2 degrees of separation so TIFWIW). Can't remember many details, but she talked like Tennessee was never close to getting Vonn. She also mentioned something about a brother who was helping with his recruitment, which reminded me of the D'Anthony Arnett situation a few years ago. Then again she wore Georgia swag a lot so who knows.

But this time of year there are all kinds of games being played by both players and coaches. Wouldn't be surprised if this thread is documenting one of them.

Interesting you mention the brother with his recruitment, because a poster came on here claiming to be his brother and that he was definitely going to tOSU. Many of us thought he was a troll poster, but in hindsight, he probably was really his brother.

I remember that guy. I'm sure Dooley not bothering to recruit Vonn killed our chances before butch ever set foot on campus.

It aint what i want to believe. It is a fact. He lied to the UT coaching staff and the Ridgeland coaching staff. He played UT like a violin.

Interesting. Am thinking he must have wanted a mid-week visit for Tennessee as a backup since he knew he already had both weekends full and was not willing to drop either visit in order to visit Tennessee (if asked to). Maybe he is worried about whether he will like Pruitt, and Ole Miss is his current backup, but he's starting to think he might rather be at Tennessee than Mississippi if he doesn't like Pruitt, and we told him to pound sand if he's not willing to come on a weekend.
So maybe they agreed to talk again Monday after he has been on is Alabama visit and Byrd has been on his Miami visit. Both parties should have some key additional information by then.
OR
maybe he was just wanting to come back for another go around with one of the hostesses he met on a previous trip. Ha ha
