'16 NC OG Landon Dickerson

That is the thing, every team has an injury, and most lineman (OL and DL) need to learn (can play just not start) from older guys that have been in weight room and learned play book.

We haven't had a consistently good interior yet. We've looked a lot better in the late schedule but its not like we have that depth on the oline that we do at other positions.

I'll trust the coaches but I don't mind putting my opinion out there as well. I just don't think we've been good enough in terms of starters or backups to pass on Dickerson.

Just because he's a 5 star doesn't mean he could beat out Hall or Jones next year. If the coaches thought he could do that I would think he would be at the very top of our board. He would have certainly got an in home visit from Butch. It's my understanding that didn't happen.

It's not like I'm trying to be anti-Dickerson or anything. He could end up being awesome. But I don't think we're doomed if we don't land him.
Nobody is saying his star rating guarantees anything, but there is a whole lot of stupid speculation going on here about him sitting for a few years or he's definitely a Guard, when not a single damn person here knows with any degree of certainty what is likely to happen.

Even the coaches probably don't yet know where he will project best. The kid is 6'5" 300, very athletic and strong as an ox. He could play anywhere on the line, for all we know.

Yeah he looks awesome. As do many of the recruits we're trying to pull in this week.

speaking of stupid speculation, arent you the guy that kept telling everyone last summer that charles mosley should start on the line?

I feel pretty good about our depth on the oline going into next year. Dickerson would make it outstanding, but I don't see guard as a weakness on our roster at all. Lots of young talent with super high ceilings.

my feelings too. I want dickerson but looking at our roster needs and what we have committed, would you take him over byrd, warrior, brown or kongbo? I wouldnt as crazy as that sounds

Rain Man, the guy is 50lbs larger than every other OL or DL, except K-Mac. And that ain't 50lbs of blubber, either. He is a mammoth lineman and he just got moved over last fall, coming off a broken leg that made him a RS.

How in the hell do you know he won't be starting this fall? It might have been an issue of conditioning. You don't know, so stop acting like you do.

I would not. I think our oline will be pretty good next year regardless of how we finish. Safety and DT specifically have the potential to be upgraded drastically in a way that will make an immediate impact.

I would definitely struggle to decide whether or not I would rather have Byrd or Dickerson. But Byrd looks electric. I don't think you could go wrong with either. Plus we have that fam connection which makes him seem like a more likely get.

It appears that even if 5* Dickerson wanted in Butch would not drop 4* Johnson, 3* Tatum, or 3* Niehaus to take him. I say good move Butch. Commitment has to mean something.

Mosley couldn't finish one long drive in Jones offense unless he loses 30 of that 50.

What are you talking about, Crunchimaximus under a different username? Who is saying one of those guys would have to be asked to look around?

It's real simple. If Brown, Dickerson, Kongbo, Byrd and Warrior all want in....Butch will find a way to make the numbers work. He took more the past 2 seasons than most thought he would. No reason to expect any different, now.

Dunno if Marquill just talking to fire up followers but he said both Warrior and Landon are Vols.
Just getting warmed up, here...

How did he take more? Blue shirts. It was a new way to add a couple more we had not seen them use before. VQ said Butch isn't taking blue shirts this year. I guess you'll need to find a new way. Good luck.

Why oh why is this so hard for some to grasp? Nobody knows the exact number of players Butch can/will take.

If all those guys want in, room will be made.

I said all along, that I just want him to be moved to where they can put his size to good use. If they don't think he'll reach a point where he is conditioned well enough to operate in an up-tempo offense, then they should have left him on defense, where his size could have made a big difference at DT last year.

Janzek was adverse to rotating players because he didn't trust the backups enough...according to his own admission. I think that was part of what got him fired. In critical games, his defense petered out in the 4th Qtr...largely because he was too skeered to rest his starters any, the first 3 qtrs.

OL typically don't rotate, so it would make less sense to have a behemoth sitting on the bench as an OL, than getting him into the rotation at DT...especially on running and short yardage downs.

Mosley is a big mismatch waiting to happen. I just want to see us make it happen.
