'16 NC OG Landon Dickerson

true just saying warrior, byrd and dline is higher on the priority list with what we already have committed at ol. I think if brown or kongbo go elsewhere they will take moss over dickerson. would love to be able to take everyone but cbj wants to keep as many spots available as possible for a monster class in 17

i hope they take Moss.

So are you saying a Byrd in the hand is worth a Moss and Dickerson in the Bush? :whistling:

I agree with our staff...load off their minds. I also think Niehaus will be a success story. :yess:

Of that is the case our staff is making evaluations on the available talent and position needs. And I totally agree with that idea. Especially after some rating service busts. (i.e., Blair, and the LB we took from Alabama a couple of years ago.)

Blair was a take for pretty much everybody. Bet Butch and the Bobs learned something from that. Gavin Bryant is part of a nice problem...we got too much damn talent at some positions! Weathered might end up doing very well at the next level...who was supposed to sit? Same thing applies with Dillon Bates.

agree, often wonder what's going on with Bryant since he seems to have a ton of talent- Creamer is another that is getting lost in the shuffle/depth chart...

Both might end up the Drae Bowles route...which is pretty dang good. UTC has something borderline great going on.

Why is this guy not getting much run? If the old adage holds true you build championship teams from the inside out. Then Dickerson is the second most important recruit on campus this weekend. He is a high 4-5* OL, those don't grow on trees, but it seems VN is more concerned with Kongbo. Brown is without a doubt the most important recruit this weekend among the seeming undecided guys, but it seems like Dickerson should be next, ahead of Byrd and Kongbo. That is counting Warrior as a committed already.
Agree. Heck I would say Dickerson is the most important. Oline has improved but still isn't as good as the elite sec teams.

staff is not as high on dickerson as his ranking suggests. they view him as a bit of a tweener that will likely play guard at this level. they like him but he is not the top priority unless another spot becomes available

Makes sense with no in home. Dickerson wants to play T and we like him better at G. I think if he wanted in though they would make room to keep him from Bama

I keep thinking both those guys are going to show up on the field. We need them to take their game to that level. A former wide receiver with a tallish, line backer body like Creamer should be pushing for time at tight end.

Agreed. They will play and contribute.. Both are only red shirt so right?

I think Dickerson is a greater need than either Byrd or Kongbo, but I think we need them all. You always need great players. I hope loading up on projects earlier doesn't bite us in the butt. But it is understandable when you get guys like Byrd that come out of left field.

Just remember in 2017 Kendrick, Weisman, Bryant, Sanders and maybe Robertson will be gone. Thomas and Robertson (if he stays) will be seniors.

He's absolutely a guard, but if you can find room, he's a guard you want on your team.

I agree. If you hold a spot for Stewart if he wants in then you absolutely hold a spot for Dickerson if he wants in as well. I just don't buy the passing on him BC he projects as a guard. We took Jennings who projects as a safety and just promised him a shot at qb before converting him. You cannot tell me that we wouldn't tell Dickerson that he would have a shot at Tackle before sliding inside. The absolute worst thing would be for him to land at bama and not only lose him but improve our enemy as well. I don't buy that the depth chart is more favorable at oline at bama than it is here.

I love the kid that they have as a project at tackle but you don't pass on a kid like Dickerson for a project tackle. All of that of course is jmo.

Guards dont leave early. Only tackles. Because even the best guard won't be taken until the 2nd or 3rd round. Robertson and Thomas will be here as seniors.

In past years? Sure.

But we're now finally at the point where we don't need true freshmen to come in and play immediately. As a result, the staff can take a chance on Tatum over Dickerson if they feel Tatum, though not as good as Dickerson right now, has a higher ceiling and will be the better player 2-3 years from now.

I love to see Coach signing top tackles, OTs and DTs. There are more guards in the talent pool, but when a guard comes out of HS playing at the superior level which LD has achieved, I can't help thinking that he should continue to develop and be a dominant force in the OL. Huge get, imo.

Zach Martin for the Cowboys was a 1st round pick. He may have been a tackle in college though. They also took Travis Frederick in the 1st round to play center. Both have made pro bowls. Not sure that point is as true as you think it is. Just depends on need. It is a lot easier to find a guard than it is to find a tackle though so they tend to slide down draft boards unless they are truly elite.

Teams are definitely more likely to take a flier on a guy with potential if he is projected to play tackle. I agree with you there.

Who has said we are now not pushing for Dickerson? Honestly, that seems unbelievable.

I mean he's currently on a visit here, so we're obviously pushing for him.

But as far as their recruiting boards go, it wouldn't shock me if he was ranked lower than Byrd, Warrior, Brown or Kongbo. Doesn't mean they don't want him.

How do you rationalize that??? You don't pass on a 5* OL in hopes that a 3* will work out in 2-3 years. If you do, the talent of the squad decreases.

You don't pass on elite OL. Butch is not passing on Dickerson.
