'16 NC OG Landon Dickerson

To me a national signing day haul of three elite guys is a great haul??? I was more complaining about the dude talking about lack of in state guys this class and saying it takes every year to bring it. I actually think this will turn out to be a very solid class on the field.

The only in-state guy the staff wanted but couldn't get was the wr that went to Oregon. Other than that we got better from other states.

This was a down year. Why would you want us to load up on in-state kids if we can get better players from other states?

I don't understand why we even brought the kid in on an OV. Jones doesn't even meet with him at all. Very very odd.

All this talk about moss being the backup plan you don't bring this kid in as a backup plan and never meet with him IMO. Appears there was no scenario in which we wanted this kid

Very very odd and hard to figure

Anybody got the 247 article? Supposedly Butch told Landon that he needed to be in constant contact with the staff over the next few days if he wants to be a Vol?

It did say that in the article.

I would like to see a much bigger push for good OL guys myself.

Maybe Jones is playing hard to get, so to speak. It works for us ladies.

"I didn't sit down and meet with him at all but he did give me some advice," Dickerson said. "He said if there was any legit possibility that they have a chance I need to be in constant contact with him the next few days."

I'd say he's FSU bound and Butch knows it and doesn't want to waste time or hold a spot

Agree. Really thought he'd be a Vol. Seems like a perfect fit. Gotta trust the staff. Have to place the time and energy where it has the most impact. If these comments are true, I suspect the staff just did not feel like he was serious about UT. They did, however, give him every opportunity to secure a spot. If he's really wanting to wear the orange, he knows what to do. If not, thanks for tripping and good luck as a Nole.

Warrior, Byrd, Brown, Kongo....I'll take that any day.

:eek:lol:

FSU already has 3 OL committed, 1 signed and are in on a fifth. So Dickerson's late decision could cost him a spot at FSU-- and Bama may not make room for him. That's probably why CBJ told him to stay in close contact-- things are very fluid as final spots are locked down.

I've always wondered if we bring in guys to play them against one another.

I also think that you're reading way too much into the quote. I'm sure he spent time with Butch on the visit.

I mean it was the kids best OV of all.

When you see a chance to pat yourself on the back you never miss it Bruin. Even if it means skipping over many other legit possibilities besides your own theory.

What i know: I have it on authority that if Dickerson wants in and warrior, brown, kongbo want in, then niehaus would lose his spot.

edit: was going to make some predictions but instead will just leave what i was told and not speculate on what ifs because it hurts my brain.

Dickerson says Tennessee was the best official visit that I have taken. That seems like a pretty positive sign, I was starting to lose hope but those comments are good to hear. Either way we are going to close pretty well. Go Big Orange!

What i think: Dickerson has been trending vol and probably made the decision this weekend, was there to be recruited but also to recruit. warrior is a vol and kongbo should be a vol. Brown is a toss up and us recruiting Daniels heavily does not bode well but i am keeping my hopes up for brown on Wednesday. Coaches were not prepared for the Byrd development that came with scott but if he wants in he will be a part of the class(see situation with Dickerson and niehaus).

I have it on good authority, you're full of it.

Not sure how this pats me on the back

But the kid saying he didn't meet with jones is startling to say the least and surely everyone finds it extremely odd

So what about the push we made for the 3 we have?

Well, let's assume that you want to be at least 2 deep at each position, that all freshman redshirt the first year to bulk up and that at least 1 every year leaves early for the pros. Then as we know some don't pan out to be as good as we thought they would be and some transfer out. Take all that into account and I think you need 4-5 OL coming in every year.

Preciate your expert opinion on me. My buddy works for the department. He's on the field so he hears what players say and his friends in recruiting tell them whatever they can if they know anything. That's all.

Also i did not say Dickerson was in for sure. Just said that if the other big 3 recruits want in and he does too, then niehaus will be the casualty from dickerson getting in.

Seems pretty obvious to me that Dickerson likes UT more than UT likes him. I'm not sure where he is on the board, but I think we'd have to miss on more than 1 of our targets before he gets the green light.

Two separate post and topics

The op you quoted was asking why did we bring the kid to campus at all?

Makes no sense why we brought him if butch wasn't even going to meet with him.

I would think that either means we are full or we are taking a gamble and focusing all our time on Brown and Byrd.

We don't know all that goes on.

Well sure that seems obvious but why bring him at all?

Only thing I can think of is maybe coming to visit us lessened the chances he ends up at Bama. Maybe that is it

Butch visited Niehaus at his home. Butch didn't waste his time visiting Dickerson at his home leading up to NSD. Says a lot about what Butch thinks of these guys. Dickerson may decide he wants in. If he does, no way it's with the loss of Niehaus.
