'16 NC OG Landon Dickerson

those people implying that we can wave off a 5 star OL clearly learned nothing from the dooley debacle!

WE ALWAYS NEED A 5 STAR OL!!!

Doug Mathews addressed this this morning on his Big Orange Sunday Show. Said that with 3-4 spots open, we are focusing on needs/priorities, not just the most talented players. Said DT, DE and DB were the priorities. This lines up with an earlier post that said the defensive side of the ball is being focused on with the remaining open spots.

I just don't think the staff had much confidence that he would come here thus making other recruites a higher priority. Just a guess on my part.

I think that is a factor that plays into it as well. Also, we took some guys when he would not commit. But, tackle was more of a need than guard. A lot of reasons why but we have not pursued him like we did Richmond. If he was the number 43 in the country in their eyes, they would have chased more even earlier before things filled up.

Would you take a 3* qb with fcs offers and.maybe like.a.few power 5 lower tier schools over Jarret lets say?

UT has its own recruiting department. They don't have to agree with the public recruiting services when it comes to player evals. They've offered plenty of kids who were low rated or not even rated, so you're just going to have to trust them that they know better than some never-been like Woody Womack regarding which players are better.

No idea what your getting at but I will take Mariota over any 5 star for our offense

Well that would be easy after the fact of seeing him play.

Im talking about players that hasnt taking a college snap

You mentioned blair and robertson....before they started college most elite teams will.pick blair imo

We know how.it.turned out.

My point is.always choose the elite players. That's what the.elite programs are doing

Quinten Dormady was 2-star when he committed. That same weekend, the coaches apparently rejected a commitment from Torrance Gibson, at the time a 5-star.

If dormady didnt get hurt he.could.have possibly been a 4* much earlier imo

Oh and gibson was probably going to play receiver

Devante brooks was a top 5 TE in the country and a high 4* before he got hurt.

Tells me when healthy...look out

I wonder if Trey Smith being in next class is part of the lack of urgency here. Smith is a top 5 priority in next class and a stud

Not sure. I thought landon would be a G and trey a T.

We do have Neihaus, Tatum, and Johnson who are tackles I think.

Would that turn Trey away next yr?

No. Dickerson is a national name while those others aren't even though they have great potential
