The way I read it earlier Butch did meet with him for a few min. Not doubting that he was down of the priority list. I don't think he was down because of a lack of talent though. I think he was down because Butch didn't think the guy was seriously considering coming here. JMO

Why isn't it possible the coaches don't see this guy as a 5 star?

Agreed it could be he isn't really interested but Vq sure makes it sound like we don't see him as a priority

Rivals has him 43. Oh my, those rivals guy have him at 43. The world is over and he is better than any guard on our roster because again......Rivals has him at 43.




























































Oh my goodness. CPF got lazy and got fired because he started looking at who was number 43 on Rivals. Evaluate film and not recruiting services if you want to do well and win. Staff doesn't have him as highly rated as Rivals and we have what they feel are several young linemen on campus at guard who they feel are better. Also, plenty of high school guys bust like Jucos and we could list some Jucos who did well at UT. One last thing, who ranks the Jucos. The same services mostly.

Of course he has talent. I don't think the staff thinks he has top 50 talent however.

Point taken, and I don't doubt Butch's ability to judge talent as he has yet to fail us. However, what evidence do we have he feels this way? I am referring to the VN Peep that keep implying you pass on talent in this position. It is lunacy!
Also too many other top notch programs, his all star performance, and ranking services disagree with the 3 star ranking theory.
He sounds like he is worth the risk.

Personally I think there are a lot of smoke and mirrors tomfoolery this recruiting cycle. Will be a fun three days!

You don't want to go a class without a HS DT. 2 years, Tuttle and KMac go early, then what do we have? - A rotation of freshmen and sophomores.

If Dickerson showed more interest earlier, then he would have been a take in a heartbeat. As it was, the coaching staff didn't wait around and took some other really good options instead. Now, Dickerson isn't the main priority. Doesn't mean the don't like him.

You never have enough DL. You can reasonably play 3 separate lines in every game. One of bamas biggest advantages over everyone else is their depth on DL. In Fulmer heydays, he did too

Just because a kid is rated 5* by some recruiting service, doesn't mean he is a 5* in the coaches eyes. CBJ has said more than once his staff's do not recruit based on stars, they recruit based on their own evaluations. Also, we need elite DB, DT, and DE more than OG with who we already committed this cycle. You do realize we lost both starting safeties this year, will likely lose two elite DT"s after their junior years, lost Kurt this year and will lose Barnett after next year? I swear some of you guys seem clueless as to reality lol.

Butch- well we've got one spot open. Go home sleep on it and let me know in the morning. If you want this spot you will need to stay in constant contact with me until NSD because we have several guys waiting for this spot.

See you can change it around however you want. There are only a select few that knows what's going on.

I'd also think Landon not willing to commit to an OV to UT till the last possible weekend had the staff seriously questioning how much he wanted to be a Vol. Reasonable I'd think.

Can't argue with that. While I do not fancy myself the recruiting equal of our staff, FAR from it, I do not favor them thinking themselves out of a five star offensive lineman.

I was really excited about this weekend's visits. You guys really threw cold water on that. The bottom line: nobody knows anything but there is a lot of speculation and guys who know people who are inside who know stuff saying this or that. The same folks who referreed Butches brawl with Mack Crowder and flew in with Chip Kelly.

I think the Dickerson recruitment has been about halfway as crazy as Kongbo's recruitment which is still pretty dang crazy. I just don't understand the people saying the staff doesn't want him or we don't have space for him. He is a freaking 5 star O lineman who dominated in the UA game. He is a take no matter what.

OL recruiting is one of the hardest things to do. Highest bust rate and also more 2-3 stars that turn into elite players then other positions.
