'16 NC OG Landon Dickerson

Boom! Don't want any soft linemen. If you want to go up against our D-line everyday, you better bring it!

yep. best of luck to dickerson at fsu. I think all the coaches are very happy with our o-line class and our finish on signing day. this one will be interesting to look back on in a few years and see who's evals were correct, the tennessee staff or 247's

But? You don't say no to a 5 star line...oh, we did.

little tidbit about dickerson's visit last weekend and why cbj chose to go another direction. apparently more than one highly thought of current player went to cbj sunday night after dickerson left and told jones that they didnt believe dickerson fit the culture of this team and they also believed he was very soft. not taking a shot at landon but guys like jack jones have raised the bar for what they want in a lineman and the biggest thing is toughness and a nasty attitude inside the lines

iyam it says a lot about the culture change that cbj is always talking about and it's very real. when your star players are policing the team, making sure everyone is in line and taking time out to help recruit, thats when you know everyone is all in and something special is being built.

Easy

Saturday or Sunday night?

Would really make even more sense if it was during the visit instead of afterward as it would explain butch not even meeting with him

not sure I just assumed sunday but very well could have been saturday. a starter on the ol and a starter on the dl both reported this to cbj. it's not unusual for this to happen. jones always has the hosts report to him and give their opinions and details about how a recruit acts when coaches and support staff are not around.

Thanks

Good stuff and makes a bunch of sense.

The not meeting with butch was a red flag for sure. I would guess they came to him during the visit

Not sure about the toughness call out but I could see players saying something regarding culture fit/attitude or possibly not taking the visit seriously. hard to measure toughness on an official

This news is underappreciated. When you not only have a culture, but 1) require that everyone fit it, regardless of talent level, and 2) the team leadership is bought into it and understands it well enough to evaluate it in others...that's huge.

Agreed but I have heard of players saying something like this a lot

"The kid isn't a good fit. Little bit of a pretty boy that's all into himself"

Unless there was an impromptu circle of life at a player's apartment and he refused to get in the ring against McKenzie.

I do know for a fact that one current player, who I will not name, told cbj "he reminds me of daniel helm, coach"

Interesting. I wonder is this is what happened to Torrance Gibson.

This was a hit on him in high school too. Reports were that he was lazy in practice. He could dominate most people on physical presence alone and has been involved in martial arts at a high level so he is a tremendous athlete. But he played angry just some of the time.

let's see if VolorNuttin has the stones to come in here and tell travis stephens he's wrong

It may be hard for us message-board guys to measure toughness.....

But players KNOW...about the intangibles...when they spend time around other players.....

Could you imagine sitting in the locker-room with Ryan Leaf and Peyton Manning and not KNOWING which dude had the mental toughness and commitment to excellence that it takes to win????

But a lot of IDIOTS back in the day before the draft had Leaf as a better QB than Peyton....:salute:
