Nice logic from Farrell.

"Patterson has a better team with more weapons around him, and Guarantano outplayed him despite being on a crappier team, but Patterson is still clearly the #1 QB"

Guarantano outplayed Patterson head-to-head, yet Patterson is still ranked number one? Subjectivity reigns when dollars are at stake.

I really don't get the hype around Patterson. Saw him at the opening. His team won the 7 on 7 tournament and he won mvp but he didn't impress me. Physically he looks unimpressive. Short. Not a great build. Not a very impressive arm. Makes no sense why rivals has him #1. Guarantano looked the part moreso than Patterson.

But then again these are the same guys that had Sony Michel as a consensus 5 star and Nick Chubb as just another 4 star. These recruiting services miss just as often as they with recruits.

Patterson is gonna be a huge miss for rivals. He'll be good at the next level. But not #1 overall good.

They actually hit more often than they miss these days. Still not perfect though.

From everything I've read, this kid has a great head on his shoulders.

Need to do everything humanly possible to keep him a VOL...

You already predicted he'd flip. Chad Kelly was awesome Saturday btw.

His recruitment is similar to Preston Williams. A lot of posters on here had all sorts of concern about him going to other schools. Don't worry about Guarantano. He is a VOL and will sign with Tennessee. His talent is outstanding and will likely compete for playing time if he is an EE.

He's going to make an interesting quarterback battle when he shows up.

He's Dobbs succesor IMO. I don't buy the Hunter Johnson hype right now. And I don't know if Dormady brings much to the running game.

If I had to guess, the QBs go like this:

Dobbs till 2016.
Guarantano from 2017-2019.
Trevor Lawrence 2020-2022.

With the offense we run, if you're not a DT QB you're probably not going to work out.

Bet our offense would look completely different with an experienced OL and a capable passer. DT = mobile enough to avoid OL issues, and bubble screens = compensating for accuracy issues.

No question. We would easily be 3-0 and a possible playoff contender.

Most key pieces come back next year, but will Dobbs suddenly get a stronger and more accurate arm? Doubtful. As for the OL, I don't know if coaching or talent is the problem.
