No question. We would easily be 3-0 and a possible playoff contender.
Most key pieces come back next year, but will Dobbs suddenly get a stronger and more accurate arm? Doubtful. As for the OL, I don't know if coaching or talent is the problem.
He's Dobbs succesor IMO. I don't buy the Hunter Johnson hype right now. And I don't know if Dormady brings much to the running game.
If I had to guess, the QBs go like this:
Dobbs till 2016.
Guarantano from 2017-2019.
Trevor Lawrence 2020-2022.
Man, QD broke the pocket, rolled right & threw a 30 yard seed off of one leg to P. Willy. The mobility plus the accuracy hasn't been seen on the hill that I remember. I'm only 40 ( and a man), so I'm not that old, but maybe one of our older Vol fans can think of someone who possessed arm strength, mobility & accuracy like that (Heath Shuler maybe) but I can't.
That was freshman to freshman by the way.
Shuler wasn't that elusive but he was very strong. Tony Robinson was one of the best at throwing a bullet while on the move.
Tony was the man. I'm not sure but what I didn't shed a couple of tears when he got hurt. I just knew the season was over........ended up being a pretty good year thanks to the SugarVols.

You're welcome :hi:
If you are one of them, then thank you. To this day, the 1986 Sugar Bowl is still my favorite game. I tell people it was the greatest game I never saw.
My wife and I were so poor back then, we didn't even have a TV. Listened to it on the radio. It was several years later before I actually got to see it, but the radio version I got originally is still my favorite.
:hi:
LOL. I know you hope that happens but this is Dobbs job till he graduates. He's done nothing to even warrant this speculation.
But go ahead keep dreaming.
I want the players on the field who give the team the best chance to win. If thats Dobbs next year then I am fine with that. I like Dobbs but he has struggled some. Not saying he stinks or anything but the facts are Dobbs is an average passer with excellent athleticism.
Its not that he hasnt done anything to warrant this kind of speculation, its got to do with Dormady. What if he outplays Dobbs and actually earns the job? Wouldnt you want the guy who beats out the other guys? You can keep on with your biased assumptions though, it really works for you :good!:
What if John Kelly outplays Jalen Hurd? Both are equally unlikely IMO hence the reason I find the speculation comical.
Dobbs and Hurd will be starting in our backfield for the next 2 years. Get used to it.

If I'm being unbiased and honest, the talent gap as passers seems much narrower between Dobbs and QD than the talent gap is at RB between Hurd and Kelly to this point.
Maybe that doesn't really matter in Butch's system though if athletic ability is more valuable than passing skills at the QB position.

Guarantano outplayed Patterson head-to-head, yet Patterson is still ranked number one? Subjectivity reigns when dollars are at stake.
