tennessee commitment jarrett guarantano, a top247 quarterback from bergen catholic high school in oradell, n.j., suffered a season-ending foot injury saturday during bergen catholic's win over paramus (n.j.) catholic high school, coach nunzio campanile told nj advance media on monday morning.

"it's an injury to a ligament in his foot," campanile said, according to the report. "it's unfortunate, but that's the nature of the game of football."

the 6-foot-4, 194-pound guarantano had completed 75 percent of his passes for 1,268 yards, nine touchdowns and two interceptions through the crusaders' first five games this season. He also had rushed for 274 yards and six touchdowns.

That sucks. He was tearing it up this year. Kid would be deadly in the Dobbs role as he has a much better arm and is even faster.

Will drop to a 5.6 3* now.

They can drop him out of all rankings. It still doesn't mean he's not a great player. I can't believe people still worry about star rankings. Actually, this just means he may not waver from Tennessee and I sure Butch will not waver from him.

This "Batman" guy seems like a solid poster to me. Jmo. No connection.

QB
Jarrett Guarantano
Oradell (N.J.) Bergen Catholic

"Despite the possibility he might be out for the rest of this season, few quarterbacks in the country have played as well as Guarantano. His poise has improved tremendously and his decision-making has gotten a lot better as well. He takes a beating at Bergen Catholic year in and year out, but still manages to have great performances and keep his team in contention against some of the nation's best. There's no doubting his arm strength or his mobility and his future looks very bright at Tennessee."

-Rivals, Mike Farrell

Expect a bump.

After I watched his film, I knew we were getting a special prospect.

Best QB in the 2016 class. Period. Future SEC superstar.

I wonder if this is an injury like Hurd's was his senior year? May just be something he could have come back from but thought might as well get preparing for UT. Just my own speculation of course.
