'16 NJ QB Jarrett Guarantano (Vols commit 4/15/2015)

Dormady is the number 2 until someone else beats him out. He is one freak play away from being the number 1 right now. He will have two full winter workout programs and spring practices on all the others. He is clearly the front runner. I do not expect him to just step aside and say here boys it's yours.

He was an EE, that's the only reason. Competition is wide open this spring.

Dormady is going to stay a backup... Dobbs will start next year and JG will come in and learn the system to be ready for the following year... JG is not coming to UT with the intentions of sitting for two seasons. I hate it because Dormady is a stud and so is S Jones if given the time to develop... too many good QBs is a "great" but "sucky" problem to have....

you've been in Bama too long.

I don't comment a lot on tape as I can't stand the so called talent evaluators on VN but this tape looks incredible. He can sling it and has crazy speed. It would be hard to keep this guy off the field the year after Dobbs leaves.

Lol dobbs will never be half as good as Prescott

Prescott is a RS senior. He only became a starter during the tail and of his RS sophomore year. Dobbs is a TRUE junior. And became the starter during the tail and of his TRUE sophomore season.

Right now Dobbs is alot more advanced as a passer than Dak in his third year. He's also alot more athletic. Its kinda early to say he won't be as good. As of right now he's ahead of Dak's pace in terms of development and has more physical gifts. He's taller, more athletic, stronger arm. Also more intelligent.

Expect Dobbs to be alot better next year after a full season of in-game experience as a starting QB in the SEC.

Dormady is not as physically gifted as JG. He'll lose out in 2017 after Jarrett gets a year in the system.

I'm not sure if that's a guarantee. Dormady isn't as athletically gifted, but if he has time to make throws the offense can be tailored a bit to his strengths. I've seen him make throws this year that Dobbs will NEVER be able to make. Also, don't count Sheriron Jones out. The kid has a tremendous arm, and a LOT of wiggle coming out of the backfield. I'd say he's the best running QB we have (as far as athleticism). I know Dobbs can pull it down and go, but it's not like he has wheels or anything.

I'm willing to bet they try to RS this kid, and let he and Sheriron battle it out later on. I mean, it's a pretty damn good situation to be in. I remember when we had Casey Clausen and quite a few other good QB's on roster, turned out pretty good for us. I hope we get to see them all in VOL uniforms for a decent amount of time, they are all so good in different ways. Again, a great "problem" to have if you ask me.

Not like he has wheels??? Dobbs has a smooth, gliding running style that makes it look like he isn't moving that fast. Watch the tapes and see how many guys are catching him.

Only guys on the D who can catch him are DBs and they are some of the fastest guys on any team. If they don't take good angles he still stays in front of them. He's got wheels.

Dobbs has no wheels? He will most likely hold ut records for a qb running before he is done. He is very slippery and is far from slow. Jones may be better running, but I'll have to see that to believe it!

That play against UF where he caught the pass shows just how fast he is.

You don't think he has skills or not a right fit for the offense?

I like his skills. If he gets in, I think we see less read option and more west coast spread the ball around stuff.

I think QD is an awesome qb, he's got the talent and our OL should be good enough where a QBs legs aren't the deciding factor like it is now.

But I think Jones is just that good. He throws a beautiful ball, and as much as I hate mentioning it, he really is much more athletic than QD. I don't think JG starts until Jones is done with the job.

I'm pretty far from a scout though, so my evaluation of his film could be wrong. Just my amateur opinion.

You would think after the countless examples of players proving the game goes WAY beyond physical giftedness that people would learn better. But nope, we just continue to not learn. Especially, especially at the QB position. The QB position at the highest levels (SEC and then NFL), goes way beyond arm strength and how fast they run. Posters that say stuff like this make the game much more simple that it is. Playing QB at the highest levels is not a track and field event. In fact, how have you not learned from the SEC this past few seasons. So many bad QB's in the SEC recently. And guess what, many of them are very highly rated and physically gifted. Driskell has every physical tool that Guarantano has. He is at La Tech right now.

None of that is a dig on Guarantano. If he starts right out of the gate as a redshirt freshman then great. That means he beat out two very talented QB's that have been in the system for longer than him. But, if he does beat them out it will be because of MUCH MORE than his arm strength and speed.

He also had that spin move on Antonio Morrison and ran 60 yards down the sideline. During that run he outran the Florida secondary particularly CB Quincy Wilson.

If you can outrun the Florida secondary you are really fast.

Dobbs has no wheels? Are you freakin nuts? I have problems with Dobbs as a complete QB, but dude is as good a runner as the Artful Dodger himself..and that is saying something.
