'16 PF NC Grant Williams (UT commit 11/13/15)

I still don't understand why the staff didn't full court press Bruno Fernando. Suppose its too much to hope he or another true big has suddenly become interested.?

Fernando is a guy almost all school want to see play this winter, he didn't play a full AAU slate and so that has done a little hesitant. He also is at Montverde which means there's a chance he could have some transcript woes, so that could also be a reason. Fernando has always looked like a sprig signee, which like I mentioned above maybe the staff has decided to go witty 4 and pursue a Fernando or Maker and swing for the fences on a 5th signee...or maybe Williams just wants to enjoy another OV, similar to Fulkerson?

Rick could have a top ten class right now, nobody would know it. Lol I'd love to go to a Texas message board and see how easy it was for them to get info.

Really? That's a gamble. I'd be surprised.

They just said that they thought the staff would be fine waiting as long as he was ready to sign at the start of spring signing period

Edit: this is completely wrong

I know I know, the article is a month old (Sept 22nd), but I hadn't seen it.

(Grant Williams on Rick Barnes, Desmond Oliver and Tennessee)

“The first day or two that Coach Oliver and Coach Barnes got there, (Barnes) asked (his staff) if there was a guy that we could look at and build around,” Williams told the News Sentinel. “Coach Oliver directly said Grant Williams out of Providence Day.

“It means a lot. It’s a huge to me.”

“It was incredible,” Williams said of the visit. “(Barnes) was trying to sell the same thing he sold to his first team at Texas, about the future and how we would be the future four that he would build around.

“Like Royal Ivey and all those guys in his first year at Texas.”

“They let us know how they feel,” he said. “They’re straight up with it. Coach Barnes is a really cool and chill dude and he wants to get you better. So he’s really straight forward. He lets you know what you need to do and how he’s going to help you.

“If you want to put in the work, he’s there for you.”

There was no getting used to that kind of recruiting style for Williams, who was familiar with it from Oliver’s time at Charlotte.

“He recruited me at Charlotte the same way Tennessee is recruiting me now, very hard and very into it,” Williams said. “He was the one that got Coach Barnes into me.”

At the end of the article it says he wants to make a decision by late November, conflicting with what VQ has said recently.

Late November?

That's after the signing period. This one is so dang odd

Quite possible he just is speaking in general, the early signing period goes towards what could be considered near the end of November, I doubt the kids sitting there debating whether he should say mid or late.

Where and when did they mention this, I've never seen that mentioned, think your buddy relayed bad info again.

No he told me correct but I can't read apparently.

It said his time table was the early signing period.

Not sure how I screwed that up.

My apologies board!

Well, I guess that can mean 1 of 2 things (Yale taking a PF)

1. Yale felt Grant was coming here

2. Yale thought more of the other guy which would not be a good sign for us imo.

Do you all know much about the PF Yale took?

@GrantWillPds: I am announcing my college basketball decision on Nov. 13th at the Phenom Hoops challenge!! My final three are Princeton UTK and Yale
