'16 TN ATH Darel Middleton (Tennessee signee)

Check my post history please. I am not one one of the stupid 'Gruden' posters. I dreaded posting what I did, but after triple checking with people in the Powell football program I believe some of worries about him are legit. I can't speak about the basketball part, I only asked about what they knew.

Only thing I can say for sure is these 3 people did say that. Also realize 3 years is long time to get your head on straight. So there is always hope.

Hey Karma..better check yourself :) ha ha JK

Let's face it. We care very little for his academic prowess if he gives us a mean pass rush. No need to pretend otherwise. And you don't have to know how to spell to play SEC football. These types of kids get in every year.

You can speak for yourself. I do care about the perception of my alma mater and don't want it to be represented by a bunch of idiots. That being said I am not going to go overboard about a tweet,

I think I can sum up the majority of posters thoughts on this issue. Darel seems to have a great passion for the Vols. He is blatantly open about his commitment and defends Tennessee and his decision publicly. We need guys like this. Guys that have a burning desire to play for UT and an even hotter desire to beat down our rivals.

That said there is a limit, and while he is young it is not wrong for us to take part in this discussion. The reports would be much more troubling if he were a 2014 recruit. I can look back at my own self and maturity level when I was heading into my sophomore year of high school (not too terribly long ago) and I can't imagine some of the boneheaded stunts I would have pulled had I been such an elite athlete already garnering SEC attention.

15 year old athletes are cocky. Without proper role models this can lead to problems. If a young athlete shows great maturity you usually don't have to look very far to find a strong supporting cast of adults who are responsible (parents, siblings, coaches, teachers). Extreme example being the Berry twins who recently stated their family kept them humble. We can only hope some people step up and harness this kids talent for his own good. Do I hope he continues to excel on the field and play ball at Tennessee? No doubt. But it would be much sadder for such a talent and opportunity to be lost due to circumstance than it would be for UT to miss out on an athlete in the 2016 class.

This went way longer than I expected so now I'm not sure I sum up everyone's feelings on the subject well. Basically, it seems something needs to change in this young man's life.

ps. And someone needs to fix the spell check on whatever device he is using to tweet.
Takes a village to raise a child. He can learn character still as he is young. Maybe if we encouraged it as fans it'd help us plenty.

Don't scream about a kid making UT look bad because of the way he spells on Twitter.

No one complained when Travis Henry couldn't even spell his name.
