'16 TN ATH Darel Middleton (Tennessee signee)

SMH, you continue to argue with multiple people who live in Powell (including me) in defense of this kid.
...

Okay? He's a Vol commitment. I want him in high success situations and I want the best for him. Not being mean but I don't care about Powell HS other than a Vol commit goes there. I'm not trying to be an ass I just want Darel (and every single commit from every class) to be in the best situations possible and for them to give their best. If he's a diva, he's a diva. It works well for some, like the ones I mentioned earlier and others. TO, Ochocinco, Randy Moss, Vernon Davis, etc. If it sounds like I'm being an ass just remember were all Vols here...

He has done NOTHING to earn a pass for bad attitude - JMO.

I want best for Vols too, but all commits need to earn the right to keep their offer and sign their LOI.

Who's giving him a pass? I don't have passes I'm handing out.

I don't think you understand. I'm very close to coming to the conclusion that I don't really want an attitude like this on my favorite football team. I'm also not even convinced he's an elite prospect. It has nothing to do with how you feel about Powell. It's got more to do with how some on here are basically ignoring some who are close to the situation because "he's a Vol".

Oh yeah, half the examples you gave have a serious track record of completely destroying the morale of their teams.

No single person destroys a team IMO. It takes a bad egg and a bunch of followers.

I understand your close to the situation, but your personal feelings don't just cover up the fact he's a Vol. I really don't see the reason to focus all of this negative energy towards a 16 (?) year old who still has a lot of growing mentally to do. When I was 16 I was mostly mature, but you're still not all the way there. If Butch felt he was okay to offer and take a commitment from I'm down. Instead of saying "he's going to ruin a footbsll team, he's a punk, I don't want him on my favorite football team, etc." you can simply say "he's got a lot of growing mentally to do to make it at the next level".

To me this is no different than us getting a 2* commit and guys just saying they won't amount to anything and they suck. The future could shock some people and it could quite possibly be you about Darel. Or not. We don't and won't know for a while.

Just a question, what would you say if Darel transferred and had no more "punk" problems? Would that change your perspective on him? Not saying that will happen either. Like I said, I don't know the kid. Hell, I don't live in TN. Just wondering.

Also just a reminder I'm not trying to be an ass. Everytime I post like this people think I'm trying to be a douche, when that isn't the case...

You're excusing his bad behavior/attitude/work ethic/heart and speculating that his problems would be solved by a new staff.

Sounds like giving someone a pass to me.
What pass would I give him? A pass for...? A pass for me rooting for a UT commit and me wishing the best for the guy? I don't control anything in his life. I'm simply stating an alternative scenario.

So did Butch give him a pass by offering? If so why do you think that is.

Running to another team isn't gonna solve his problems. Look, you think what you want, I'll know what I'll know. And I'm gonna leave it at that. You can call it what you want, but I don't think he's all that as a player, attitude or not. Add the attitude with it, I'm not really impressed. I've watched all but 2 of his games live. My kid plays ball in this community, people talk. Look, Powell is INCREDIBLY passionate about their sports. This community would love NOTHING MORE than to see him show out and ball. People here have better things to do than make up trash stories about the kid....I know I sure as hell do. So to shoot down comments from people close to the situation doesn't necessarily make you an ass IMO. But it does fall in the naive category IMO. But hey....he's a Vol, so that's all that really matters.

Offer is not guaranteed is my point.

Contingent on his performance, development and growth both on and off the field.

If the myriad of reports of his bad attitude and lack of effort are accurate, then none of it will matter because he won't be a Vol.

I have no problem with you wishing the best for Darel - I do too. I just don't like the sound of a Soph in HS who thinks he is bigger than his team.

I don't think I'm naive for wanting the best for him. I've never shot down he's a "punk". He might be. I just don't think writing him off at 15-16 is the best idea. Also if you are discrediting him like you are, I can only imagine the community as a whole. I bet he's under a lot of stress to perform in a community he could seem unwelcome/unwanted in (this could be the opposite of what is going on but this is what I took from what I bolded above). If you're done discussing, so am I. Good luck to Darel and Powell this season and in the future.

I understand. We are on the same page but contrasting paragraphs. I hope everything works out well for both sides.

I'm not close to the situation but I am in Powell. I am a grad and I was defending him to some degree. I am also a UT fan, have been since birth. From what I understand this kid is a lost cause. Many wish he would transfer. That should tell you something right there. He is a cancer to the team such that it outweighs his talents. I don't want him near my Vols. He makes Da'rick look like Peyton Manning. What's funny is he's done nothing to warrant his self perceived superstar status.

Did Archie have a kid named Payton too? Or is that a grandson of Archie's?

It's a lost cause bro. If your info was a copy/paste from TOS they would be all over it, giving you likes. But it doesn't blow smoke up their asses so they refuse to believe. Me, you, the entire Powell community have done this kid wrong and he's a victim. SMH...

No one said any of the above...

A bit of sarcasm there. You're showing your youth. Point being, you're being told facts. You're disputing them with "what if's. You keep saying "I don't even live in Tennessee", yet you are arguing with people in which the situation is right in front of their faces. That in itself is rather naive.

All we have to do is sit back and wait to see. I have an idea he'll never end up at TN. He's done nothing to this point to warrant a scholarship to any school. I sure hope he turns it around.
