'16 TN ATH Darel Middleton (Tennessee signee)

Maybe the points are valid, maybe they're not. I know it would never cross my mind to constantly talk **** about a high school kid online. I think people are reacting more to this guy obviously having an ax to grind and being so inappropriate.

Yeah there are other things besides the delivery. Even if he were an ala commit I'd find it creepy rather than open season

Ooh. I guess you told me. You don't like what I have to say, I suggest you follow a different thread. Fact is, the kid can barely read, has a piss poor attitude, plays with little effort and will continue to do so as long as people keep propping him up. I guess a better idea would be for all of us to refrain from comment until he becomes an embarrassment for the UT program (no way in hades he qualifies academically) and then wonder why he was allowed to get away with everything while he was in high school. By this time the problem will be too big for Butch to "fix". Good thing is, he is no longer a Powell Panther and that is his own fault. Unless you want to assign fault to someone else and bury your head in the sand.

So he's left the Powell football team?

Y'all need to put Coach on ignore...

I personally like a difference of opinion. Coach is an insider giving us glempse of the situation and y'all hating on him. So, save me the time, put him on ignore if u don't like him. Geesh

Please don't refer to that clown as a coach. I know lots of coaches and none of them would talk about any kid like this guy does.

What a drain on the gene pool this red is. You don't think a kid who has had 3 semesters in HS can qualify to play college football? Chris Johnson is almost 30 and he still can't read.

Catholic is Div 1 are they not? I was wondering about Webb.
Catholic is D1, but with the connections between UT and Catholic (and Middleton being a UT verbal), I wonder if they will attempt to bring him in and get him eligible. Ultimately, if he does decide to go elsewhere, his TSSAA eligibility will be another story...

Yup, he was booted either Monday or Tuesday. He basically had a one strike policy with the current coaching staff, given the issues from earlier.

I hadn't heard this - my son didn't say anything to me last night about it. I'll see if I can get the scoop. Of course, he's supposed to be in class paying attention so he better not respond immediately to my text :)

I hate to speculate, but my son did tell me he came to practice high a couple of weeks ago. Maybe he did it again and got busted.

Nevertheless, I'll pass on what info I can find out.

What connections between Catholic and UT? You mean the ones that landed us Golden Tate, or the ones that landed us Harrison Smith? Just curious cause I've never heard this stated before...

But if he goes to Catholic he'll have to pay his own way. Whereas at Webb they can put him on scholarship. Not sure of the kids personal financial situation but tuition at Catholic isn't cheap.

My son just confirmed he is not on the team any longer. He was told that he quit - which I'm sure everyone is trying to keep quiet on the real reason.

This is a real shame - Darrel just doesn't get it. The sad part is, I thought he had turned a corner with his play and attitude the last few weeks, but I guess that wasn't the case.

Hope he figures it out now - otherwise he'll go down as another great athlete that wasted their God given talent.

Tell your son to get his butt back to class and stay off his phone! :)

Maybe... but then some posters act as though (potentially) completely valid points are null and void because of the delivery.

I think this guy is probably shooting it straight, but posters don't like the delivery. If he was committed to any other school, it would be open season. JMO.

I have no problem with the facts being stated. I agree, the delivery leaves a lot to be desired, IMO. But it's just that, my opinion.

Anyway, I hate to see a kid waste their talent, regardless of what that talent is. Hopefully someone can reach him to help this young man turn his life around.

Golden Tate is from Hendersonville, played at Pope John Paul II, not Knoxville Catholic.

Harrison Smith was never going to go to UT in the first place. His father wanted him at Notre Dame.

The word is he quit. I'm sure that is the story being told so he can transfer somewhere else and play next year.

There is no way he quit...I'll keep asking around to see if anyone knows the real story, but I guess it doesn't really matter. Whether he quit or got kicked off does not reflect well on him at all.

This better be a wake up call for him and Butch will wave bye-bye.

According to coaches, he missed practice and they were going to sit him for part of the game. He got mad and quit. He may be back. Just a little drama.

How is there "no way he quit"? If this "coach" that only posts in this thread was on staff, I wouldn't want to play either whether I was a "punk" as Darel is referred to by grown men on here or not.

I think we can see now over the past few years of UT, bad coaches who just down players don't win you games or motivate players.

Like VC said, I hope this joker isn't a coach and if he is for Powell, I feel bad for every parent with a son playing for him.
