What I can't seem to understand is there are a lot of posters that are assuming all negative comments against Darrel are because we have something against him. That isn't the case at all as we all wanted him to be successful.
For those of us that watched him day after day for the past two years wasting talent and demonstrating a bad attitude, it was very disheartening. I'm sorry if you didn't like the negative comments, but they were facts. Yes, some of the posters seemed to have a vendetta against him, but the majority of us from Powell posting were impartial and sharing what we were seeing.
The saddest part of this story, is his play / attitude on the field was actually moving in a positive direction. Also, please understand this, his scholarship offer was based on potential and his size and athletic ability. He honestly hasn't showed a whole lot on the field the last two years (consistently). He's had flashes of great plays, but his attitude had been holding him back. Almost as if he played when he wanted to play. However, as previously said, I was seeing a real change in that attitude the last few games. Last week he wore our QB's jersey in honor of him since he tore his ACL/MCL and is done for the season.
If you read his tweets, it seems he's learning a lesson here. Although they vary widely from bashing Powell and the coaches to taking responsibility. He is a confused young man right now and this may a great lesson for him and the catalyst he needs to become a hard worker and develop a winning and positive attitude.
Again, I really hope he takes this to heart and learns from it and becomes first a better person and secondly a better football player. He has a tremendous amount of potential, let's hope he lives up to it.
