'16 TN ATH Darel Middleton (Tennessee signee)

Yes, in a heartbeat. There is no doubt in my mind Butch would turn him around if Middleton made some strides his senior year from a character standpoint.
So, basically what you are saying is as it stands right now, you would not give him a scholarship. That is a big if in your comment above and echoes what the majority of us have been saying. The problem is, based on his track record the last three years, that seems like a long shot. After the last two years of being kicked off the football team (and basketball as well), I would have expected him to come into this year realizing this is probably his last opportunity to secure a solid D-1 offer. Unfortunately, he displayed the same immaturity and behavior he has the previous 3 years and got kicked off yet again.

Maybe he will finally realize his mistakes and opportunities and be a model student athlete his senior year. However, I think it is delusional to expect Butch (or any big time program) to give him a scholarship given his past behavior. While he is talented and big, he is not a superstar and I doubt teams will take that kind of a chance on a kid who has repeatedly shown this type of behavior. I expect him to go the JUCO route. If he goes to a small school and cleans up his act, then the big schools would come calling. There are way too many players with his skill set and size that have a much better attitude.

I miss the T.O. days in Dallas Haha, at least we were good.

Could have been way better...he had to KEEP IT REAL...cost him at least three seasons and lots of money. (Which he could REALLY use right now). :ermm:

You want a cancer to kill the chemistry on the team? It only takes one guy to wreck a team. Look at TO with the cowboys. There are players just as talented with better attitudes, especially at TE and DE.

He is 16 years old. Do you know how many cancers were on the great teams at Tennessee? Good leadership can usually fix those issues. If the player's council is as good as Butch says, they will straighten him up real quick. Albert Haynesworth was a huge pos, but we had great players set him straight.

As of now, I doubt he is even on the team. My only comment was people need to take out the personal attacks against the kid. There is absolutely no need for it. Simply saying he has a lot of maturing to do would be more than enough.

I never said anything being said about him was false. As of right now, I don't expect him to be playing college ball. I was saying people need to stop with the personal attacks because no high school student, especially ones with some personal problems, should have to read pages of people attacking him.

Thats all I'm saying.

We only won one title with Fulmer. I think we all know why. He's got more than a lot of maturing to do. He's gotta do a 180.
High School students have to learn that life kicks ya in the nuts over and over again. Can't protect them from reality forever. They're not kids.

And I didn't say you said it was false, just trying to clarify your comments about Butch turning him around and you would offer him a scholarship. Nobody is going to turn around Darel except for Darel himself if and when he chooses to. Until that happens, I agree he won't be playing college football.

Lol Fulmers stretch was one of the best in UT and football history. What are you talking about reality? It's not reality to have a thread about you with people constantly bashing you that you can read. That's not reality, you would not be able to handle that, it's silly to expect a highschool kid to

That's false. You have to have guidance to take the steps. Marlin Lane and Howard wouldn't be here if Dooley was still the coach. Rogers probably plays all 4 years if Butch was here.

Nah, I just get bashed across many different threads. :). I deserve it a lot of the times though. Fulmer had a huge problem keeping players out of jail. That often costed wins. If were ever going to win a title again, we need q team that goes for one goal, one desire for the one team.

Marlin and Pig ultimately chose to turn it around. I have respect for them two for making the choices to turn themselves around. Another person may guide you, but you choose if you want to be a better person.

It's different when people are bashing a persona you created online. If someone got your Facebook page with all your information and constantly attacked you, it'd be unbearable. I've seen it happen many times on The main board on Rivals. It put grown men into tears.

It wasn't just them. The coaches gave them the first step to do it along with the players council. In the end, it's their choice, but to get there they need guidance and leadership

I agree with ya, but also if you don't choose to change, no amount of guidance can help ya.

Gotta have thick skin to survive. Good thing I don't have facebook. :)

Or the kid will do what he has done each year and quit. Do you want to use a scholarship on a player that gives up that easy or do you want to give it to a kid who will give his all for Tennessee every day? I would prefer that kid that wants it that is a lower rated prospect. JMO

The kid won't make grades if he keeps doing what he is doing so offering him a scholarship doesn't hurt at all
