Something you would think coaching would correct at some point.
Have you ever coached? It really is not that simple.
Once someone has learned how to do something incorrectly, it is quite difficult to teach the proper form or mechanics. Sometimes it's a matter of the player will not, cannot or does not want to change.
It also is very difficult to unlearn that behavior. Or certain way of doing things. The medical term for that series of events that are "grooved" is called an Engram.
Even if they have it fixed in practice, in times of stress such as a game, the player often reverts to that earlier learned behavior even though it is a bad one that should not happen.
