'16 TN OL Bryce Mathews (Ole Miss commit)

I need to clarify a few things from previous posts.

1. I may have been misleading in the amount of time the Vandy degree hung over the toilet. In fact, my wife had it in her hands when she came to the bedroom and it never returned to the spot over the toilet.

2. I never snuck into one of the bedrooms at 2 in the morning, I stayed on the couch. I'm not cunning enough to have ever gotten away with that.

3. My sincerest apologies for EVER using the B word in reference to my wonderful, loving wife.

4. Yes. She is standing right behind me as I type this.

Not so fun side note: I just got whacked in the back of the head and am apparently back on the couch again tonight. :cray::cray: God, I hate Vanderbilt!

A degree in sports mgmt from any university are equal. Dont kid yourself, the Dobbs' and Patton Robinettes are the exception.

That's the takeaway. If your degree is in a joke major for athletes, then your degree is worthless regardless of the university name at the top of your diploma.

Vandy athletes' degrees from Peabody are a joke. A non-athlete student with a degree from Peabody would be grateful for a job teaching finger painting to retirement home residents.

My wife is a Vandy grad. I make 10's of thousands more than she does.

Funny side note: She came home from work one day to find her Vanderbilt degree hanging over the toilet in the bathroom. She came running into the bedroom calling me some colorful names and saying it wasn't funny. I told her it wasn't meant to be funny, that I had just paid off her Vanderbilt loans and that just as soon as she paid me back she could put it where she wanted to, but until then that degree belonged to me.

Things got a little ugly after that.

...and where else would you hang a Commodadore degree?

He is here because we have one of the best Aerospace Engineering programs out of the schools that offered him.

UTK has the third oldest engineering program in the country. So it's a prestigious program.

My mistake. We don't really come to mind when thinking of prestigious academic programs.

Loved his visit. Didn't want Johnson to come because he wanted to check it out and see how the coaches were with him around. Distance could be a plus for us.

Would be surprised if he wasn't a Vol IMO

This stuff gets ridiculous after a while. That degree from Vandy doesn't pave the way for success in life anymore than a high school diploma does. I appreciate education but people thrive in life not based on the amount of classroom hours they completed but based on how they treat people, their persistence, their work ethic, their ingenuity, their intuition, etc.

That piece of paper from Vandy in no way launches people to success more than that piece of paper from UTK does.

My dad never went to school (NEVER), could barely read, and he probably enjoys life more and makes more money than 98% of the people on this message board.

Get outta here with the Vandy degree garbage.

And yes, I have a college degree...

I have a high school education. Joined the Air Force after high school and entered the work force at the age of 22. Started at the bottom of the company and worked my way to the top. I was number two in the company when I retired. You're exactly right about hard work and treating people with respect. I'm sure a college degree is coveted by most companies today, but nothing stands in your way if you work hard and keep your nose clean.

One other note---I was raised by a single parent. I think god for my four years in the military. I guess that was my degree :):)

Hey now, my wife is an Activities Coordinator at a retirement home! But it's in Williamson County, therefore they have money to buy brushes.

Top 25 Pharmacy school as well. I think 21st in nation, could be wrong...

*Kind of subjective, but I've seen UT ranked 11th and 17th by two different sites. Pretty impressive.
