'16 TN OL Bryce Mathews (Ole Miss commit)

I think you may be wrong on this one.. We took OL that year

No, the year Jelks signed we ended up with 0 O-linemen. Jelks and the OT that ended up at FL were the main two targets. When we whiffed on both, Doolittle pouted and decided he was done with recruiting O-linemen.

The previous year, we did sign several O-linemen.

No you're wrong. I actually know Jelks, met him on both our senior trip and him and his friends hung around me for the entire week. I guess I'm just a fun guy to be around. Ha

I talked to him about recruitment a lot though during that week. He was a born and raised UT fan, but he and everyone around him could see that Dooley was a sinking ship. When given the choice between Dooley and Franklin, both of whom were recruiting him hard, the choice seemed pretty easy to him. Doesn't change the fact that I gave him lots of **** about it though.

First off, Cool story bro. :) J/K Secondly I don't think as a born and raised UT fan I could in good conscience commit to Candy, Bammer, UGA, SCar, Florida, or most any other SEC school. That being said I am not nearly talented enough to ever be in that predicament so it is easy for me to say that. :)

Yeah I can't imagine going to any school other than UT while being a UT fan.

That's like my one and only cool story bro moment in my life :cray:

I wonder what he thinks about his decision now, since he's playing for a program that is a sinking ship, as well as its head coach.

Especially after he mocked CBJ after Vandy's miracle win in 2013. I have no problem watching our DL abuse the hell out of him and the rest of Vandy's OL.

Yeah, Jelks is an a-hole.

Love that we get to whip his ass up and down the field this year.

No sympathy for that kid.

Jelks still made a smart decision. A degree from Vandy > A degree from UTK

This stuff gets ridiculous after a while. That degree from Vandy doesn't pave the way for success in life anymore than a high school diploma does. I appreciate education but people thrive in life not based on the amount of classroom hours they completed but based on how they treat people, their persistence, their work ethic, their ingenuity, their intuition, etc.

That piece of paper from Vandy in no way launches people to success more than that piece of paper from UTK does.

My dad never went to school (NEVER), could barely read, and he probably enjoys life more and makes more money than 98% of the people on this message board.

Get outta here with the Vandy degree garbage.

And yes, I have a college degree...

Out of curiosity..what does your dad do? Construction maybe?

What's worth more: A Vanderbilt education or the connections you get from playing football at Tennessee?

I would take the latter all day. Vandy alumni are spread out across the country and don't care about the football program. UT alumni are far more invested in sports and willing to help out a graduating athlete and give him/her a great job.

Should he not make the NFL, there's no chance someone like Curt Maggitt will struggle in life after college.

My apologies for posting off topic, but according to 247, Matthews said the recent junior day in Knoxville was a "great experience." Perhaps someone with a subscription can fill us in?

The degree will get you an interview.
After that it's what you can carry on your shoulders.

Bottom line is Jelks thought he was jumping on a bandwagon and now he's gonna get his azz kicked by Kentucky.

Enjoy the ghetto of the SEC homeboy.
