'16 TN WR Nate Johnson

Jones too. Dormady probably has a slight edge over Jones but that is starting to change as apparently Jones has looked really good in practice lately. I think Jones is our most versatile QB and will eventually win the job lest Guarantano comes in and dominates.

I am afraid that if JG meets even half the expectations, he will learn the system next year while Dobbs tries to run the table, then steps in 2017 as the starter and never looks back.... He will be the first true Dual-threat QB at UT that not only passes the eye test, but checks all the boxes and is just as much of a threat with his arm as his feet. We are in good hands.... literally.

JG will be your starter in 2017 barring injury. Kid is flat out special.

Anyone think Vincent Perry had anything to do with this kid only being offered a blueshirt?

Nah that would be due to us scouting him late and not having enough room in our small class. He made a pretty rash decision so if he visits in Jan we've still got time to flip him (assuming the coaches change their offer to a legitimate one).

Interesting.

When I pull up SEC passing stats, Dobs is right in the middle at 7 on most stats. 6th on a couple of them. I've never understood the whole "but he's only throwing screen passes" argument. You throw what works. The screens work. Any pass you throw, you expect/want your WR's to pick up yds after the catch. We are 7th in passing yds. Couple that with our running game and we are doing what works.

Flip and turn sh** however you feel you need to, in order to make yourself feel better about your argument that Dobbs is over rated, but it simply isn't true.

Because he doesn't lead the SEC in passing means absolutely nothing. 12 other SEC QB's also do not lead. It is not necessary to be the leading passer to do well in the SEC either.

I'm a big Dobbs supporter too, but saying he was 7th and "middle of the pack" in passing is misleading because only 8 QBs in the SEC started and played more than 10 games.

It would be nice to come to the Nate Johnson thread and get information on his recruitment instead of posters *****ing and complaining about our passing game or lack thereof

Point taken.

I really don't think it changes the gist of what I was saying though. Our scheme doesn't plan for a lot of down field passing, therefore he is not ever really able to get into a rhythm with it. The games where we did pass downfield quite a bit (like the GA game) he was able to get into a rhythm and his down field passing was good. He tore up the #1 SEC pass defense.

I agree BB. Hard to figure how he is good enough for Michigan and not good enough for us. Good route runner and slot guy. Will see who we get and may b gambling on Mecole. Let the coaches do their thing. They have not missed on much on recruiting and numbers and having a plan.

Well Michigan has nothing to do with what I'm thinking. They are behind us right now to me. The offense supposedly dependent on a good slot man needs a kid like this. You need more than one quick player. Take them all and don't depend on getting a kid playing the game.

Agreed - isn't the football forum the place for a Dobbs passing discussion and recruiting forum for discussing....awe he11, they're too ignorant to follow the board outline obviously.

I think he is the best quarterback we have so no i think dobbs should start. However I do think Dormady isn't very far off from being an SEC caliber quarterback, Dormady has an arm and can run if needed.

And what are you basing this on? Dormady in mop up time? Do you get access to practices? My guess is you're regurgitating what other people in the know are saying and have no clue as to how to critique who the better QB is.

Yeah. That is what I don't get. Slot is such a big need to make the O go.

Meh.....it needed to be said, so Sanddune said it.

Other dude just post sh** to get responses from people. He really doesn't have a clue about what he's talking about.

I mean, he's probably right...but even the blind squirrel finds a nut occasionally.

I was basing this on personal opinion? I was just stating what I've seen so far from Dormady. Good lord people on here our *******s for no reason whatsoever.

yeah we need to chill a little, season of brotherly love and all

Idk that I have a problem with saying dormady is likely an sec quality qb. Hell half the qbs that have started in this league aren't great qbs but yet they start.

Sorry man, just the truth. Both my kids know him, saw some despicable behavior when he was a junior at Independence with my own eyes. Just is what it is.

On the other hand, Nathan is a great kid, both parents ex-military, been raised right.

I also new both kids and just wanted to say that my first hand experience was both kids were both are very upstanding individuals from great parents. But I do know what your saying. Vic does play with chip on his shoulder and I have seem him take nothing from nobody. I know there track team was unbelievable. Nate was a heck of a triple jumper and Vic ran low 21's and 46 400m.

Yeah I watched him panic versus North Texas when pressure flashed. Dobbs has had elite level games in the SEC. Yeah you can keep hating but the proof is in the pudding. I don't know of a QB I'd take over him in the country. Dude is special and will be better if he can get a consistent set of WRs to throw to.
