'16 TN WR Nate Johnson

Yeah I watched him panic versus North Texas when pressure flashed. Dobbs has had elite level games in the SEC. Yeah you can keep hating but the proof is in the pudding. I don't know of a QB I'd take over him in the country. Dude is special and will be better if he can get a consistent set of WRs to throw to.

When did Dormady "panic" against North Texas? I'm not an advocate for replacing Dobbs but it seems there's a crazy tendency to look at every small sample size on Dormady and see things that simply weren't there. After two years of Peterman, if the backup doesn't go in and fumble the snap, it's a success. There were no interceptions or fumbles from that spot this year.

I was watching how he reacted to pressure. I'm not going to give a backup praise for not fumbling a snap. He's on scholarship at a place like Tennessee. Kid is no where near ready for the SEC. He can throw very well but he would need to be protected at all costs to be effective. I personally hope we keep a dual threat QB from here on out. I'm not on the Dormady wagon like some of you. He's a good pocket passer but I'm not a true fan of those.

I know its a crazy thought and all, but I'm pretty open to letting the QB battle play out between Dormady, Jones, and JG in the Spring of 2017.

When Dobbs is running the football this offense can flat go. But when he isn't and you get a predictable delayed running play without the threat to stretch the field, D's pin their ears back and this offense stalls.

I guess with Riley Fergmeister at Memphis we can no longer show raw practice footage to WR recruits. 😋

You're right, that is crazy. Clearly, the only reasonable way to settle the 2017 QB competition is with a recruiting forum cage match. Much more practical.

The Georgia game the WRs were failing him in the first quarter bad. He fit some passes into windows that were NFL level throws and they dropped them. Not having his veteran WRs hurt him out there. Croom, North, and Howard not playing really made a mess of things.

Agree 100%

Why hasn't there been a death match between D4H and gobraves?

I am disappointed

I've realized its a waste of my time to argue with delusional people. I'll just wait until next year to gloat when Dobbs is a heisman finalist and projected early draft pick.

I'm not saying Dobbs doesn't have that ceiling because he does have all the potential in the world but he has to get more consistently accurate as a passer IMO to get there. IMO he hasn't passed Clausen nor Ainge yet.

Yeah. That is what I don't get. Slot is such a big need to make the O go.

Yeah we need guys like Florida's Powell and Calloway. Georgia also has a fast slot receiver, I can't remember his name though. Man I wish we had a couple.

I wouldn't take either over Dobbs.

Class Pos G Cmp Att Pct Yds Y/A AY/A TD Int Rate
SR QB 14 325 519 62.6 3522 6.8 7.1 31 10 135.5

or
Class Pos G Cmp Att Pct Yds Y/A AY/A TD Int Rate
JR QB 12 191 319 59.9 2125 6.7 6.9 15 5 128.2

Your delusional if you wouldn't take ainge over dobbs. Ainge had more passing touchdowns in his senior season than dobbs has had in his career.

You mask that well. :). Once again, where did you see the "panic". You can back Dobbs legitimately with interjecting phantom scouting reports. I'll try to help you. Dormady was NEVER put in a situation similar to Dobbs in HIS freshman year. There was huge (understandable) panic in that emergency situation. Dobbs faced mean Bama, that bastaj Mizzou D at it's best, NC title game bound Auburn and a driven Vandy team sans his best weapons. The panic on wide display in that campaign relegated him to "not the answer" by many of our doomsday savants. (Obviously wrong). If Dormady had endured a similar stretch and similarly delivered mixed results, you'd see similar hasty judgements. Watching the few snaps under a vanilla infused GET THE GAME OVER WITH didn't opportune any "panic". You undermined yourself. You're one of the few on this board that have legit talent evaluation cred. When you conjure up bull to fit your narrative? You short yourself. :hi:

Doesn't look like you are factoring in rushing.

Curious why he didn't show Ainge's Junior year instead of his Senior year which Dobbs hasn't gotten to even play yet. 😂😂😂😂 Guy is a crock. 2006 Ainge's had Meachem and Swain going crazy too. Much better than any of our WRs right now.

Off course he needs to be more consistent but the same can be said for any QB with only one full year of starting experience.

I expect him to improve. But I also expect the talent around him to improve. Wide receiver was a position of weakness last year. I think it becomes a strength once again next year.

What I'm comparing is how he dealt with a little pressure from a garbage team. I may have looked into it too much but he doesn't impress me other than throwing the deep ball. I see everyone talking about accuracy but Dobbs did beat him in the Spring hitting targets that weren't moving. Everyone loves the backup until the backup is the starter. I see a QB that I think would have us with 5 wins at best even with the talent surrounding him.

Well he said he would take Dobbs over Ainge. So if Dobbs is better than Ainge then the senior stats shouldn't matter. The 31 passing touchdowns shouldn't matter. If Dobbs is better than Ainge then you might as well show Ainge's stats when he was at his best right?
