'16 TN WR Nate Johnson

Yes, the slot is so important in our offense. Feel like if we have some consistent slot receiver play our passing game will continue to get better. Without pig the only true slot guy we had was Johnson and he was hurt a lot. I feel like Abernathy IV would've been a great slot option too if he wouldn't have been hurt.

Same here. I hate that RDA got hurt. He looked nice on that quick screen vs Vandy. Von stepping up late helped but it shows you how important slot is. Slot WR has always been Butchs leading WR at least that is what he kept telling Pig before to motivate him

Too bad pigs only motivation was smoking the reefer. If he had stayed clean he could've made a huge difference.

Clausen had better pass play designs to me. Also his WRs were better(2001 he had Stallworth, Washington, and Witten). His offensive line was better as well. And the OC was light years ahead. Come on now these are all factors. Clausen was in a better situation top to bottom. I'd still take Dobbs over him as my QB too.

Even with the injuries Dobbs had better WRs this year than CC had in 2002-03. Clausen definitely had the better OL but our receivers his last two years were not what he had before.

Co-sign 100%.

The hate toward Dobbs from his own fanbase is one of the most bizzare things I've ever encountered. I feel like he gets more credit outside the Tennessee fan base than inside it. For example, after Andre Ware compared Dobbs to Cam Newton during the Vandy game, there was a cascade of negative tweets allegedly from UT fans berating Andre Ware for that comparison and calling Dobbs a terrible QB.

Most fan bases are happy when their QB gets outside credit. Around here it seems like people get mad if something nice is said about Dobbs ability as a QB.

Lol. Nobody hates Dobbs. Some aren't as impressed with his passing as you. The guy is smart, a great leader, a great runner and below average to good at passing(read inconsistent). If he improves his passing consistency, he will be great.

THIS! D4H is always on the defensive for some reason but I think 90% of fans would agree with this statement. Some of it definitely has to do with scheme and the fact that they don't allow him to get into a rhythm....which is vital to make consistent throws.

D4H gotta be a family member of dobbs

Steve McNair's IMO. Got a real bur in his saddle over the end of that career. Quick Catbone, tell that joke about McNair and Match.com. :gone:

We wouldn't have won the games we did without Dobbs at QB. Dobbs dynamics running make up for pass limitations. He has another year to improve and you know he will. We have our identity for next year already going in which will be nice instead of Debord trying to figure that out early on. Big year next yr with Dobbs as QB. Everyone will be signing his praises.

Dobbs/Kamara/Hurd show and open up the pass game when they stack the box

Casey Clausen was a 4 year starter
Joshua Dobbs has started for 1 1/2 years.

Career completion percentage for Clausen: 61%
Dobbs: 60.8% so 61%

People just forget that Dobbs has been the guy for just a year and a half. Honestly I think he's done a good job, and he'll have a special senior season.

This isn't a bash Dobbs, praise Clausen point but completion percentage without YPA or YPC aren't complete stats. Clausen's were higher in both categories. I'd expect Dobbs completion percentage to be relatively decent when we throw a ton of screens, flares etc.

It's no secret that Dobbs struggles with downfield throws. In before the pass to Malone vs UK is pointed to as concrete evidence.

Why do you always make it a love/hate or black/white issue? Just because some people may not think Dobbs is as great as you doesn't mean they hate him or that they are racist. Your sensitivity to all things Dobbs is what is bizarre.

Wrong. None of our WRs are in Stallworths league this year or last year. And Witten? Please. I like Wolf but Witten was on another level. CC had the better offensive unit around him from top to bottom. Stallworth and Washington had no problems getting open.

This has nothing to do with my opinion. Its when the opinions of someone like Andre Ware is attacked for saying something that is pro-Dobbs. Or when Brent Musburger and Jessie Palmer gush about Josh during the Kentucky game and some on here says they have a problem with the broadcast cause they gave Dobbs too much credit.

That's what bothers me. Statements like those are the ones that make me think there is something racial going on. Because I've never seen a fanbase get mad at one if their players getting PRAISE from the media.

I get what you're trying to say, but you're confusing disagreement and a lack of appreciation with attacks.

I've seen a lot of people criticize Dobbs' play, point out areas where he needs improvement, or display skepticism at his future as a passer.

I haven't seen any of the "attacks" you keep referencing though.

Edit: the closest example I can thing of is people hating on Ware for other commentaries he gave that seemed to be off the mark or slighting UT. For example, saying that a clearly unwatchable ball was catchable against Vandy or downplaying Kamara's shifty TD against BGSU "RBs do that all the time..."

I haven't seen anybody attack him for praising our players at all.
