'17 CT QB CJ Lewis (Former TN commit 7/23/16)

Who blasted him? He had all kinds of positive tweets. And I don't know the Sab guy, but he had a tweet saying that we had tons of guys camp and Lewis was the one they chose, and that he is a perfect fit for our offense. He just said that he will never be a starter. Do you disagree? Is that bashing the kid?

IMO, tweeting that to a kid is simply classless, regardless whether one believes he'll start or not.

Its sad if ANYBODY has ANYTHING bad to say about this kid. Who gives a crap about his star rating?

He's gonna give his all for MY BIG ORANGE!!!

Some of you need to get down from your coaching pedistal, cause you don't know the first thing about coaching. You think cause you watch the games or play Madden that you know something about coaching football. CMON MAN, give the kid a chance despite his "Star" rating. Good lawd

He didn't tweet it to Lewis though. Somebody asked for his opinion and he gave it in response to them. I don't see the problem. Maybe it's just the guy's history that makes it seem worse than it is; like I said, I don't know anything about Sab. People seem to think he's a tool. He might be.

Roger. I took it as someone tweeted that to the kid. And as for Sab, yes, he definitely has a history of being less than classy.

Besides Vandy or UK, he would be hearing the same or worse at the other SEC schools.

I honestly wish you'd go cheer for someone else. Vandy and UK could always use more fans like you considering your negative attitude shows all the time and we get tired of seeing it.

I, like most on VN, was a bit surprised about CBJ accepting Lewis' commitment at this point. However, we have seen CBJ take players that weren't highly rated. The staff appears to have very specific profiles for recruits at each position. When they find a player that fits that profile, they aggressively go after him. I remember when he flipped Dobbs, many were questioning CBJ. And we've seen how that worked out!!!!

When you are loaded at QB, it's logical that they would take a recruit with the right mix of skills and develop him over 2 years. Lewis could very well develop into a solid option given several years of development. If Jones (EJ) commits, he will face a daunting level of competition.

Disagree. Taking another highly ranked QB affects both current QBs a new D future QBs negatively. I would have preferred we not take a QB this year but if Butch wanted a QB I this class I would prefer it to be a project type player. Not meaning to disrespect this kid but he is a developmental player.

Just Because you are being classy about how you are saying it doesn't make it not true or not disrespectful.

Anyway there is no connection between this take yesterday and good news with jones IMO.

If it isn't bashing, it certainly adds nothing positive to the kid's moment. Besides, what good comes from teliing a kid he will never start here? I think it's childish and ignorant. Especially given the history of that dude.

It doesn't matter if he's a recruit or a commit, it's ridiculous to dog a kid on Twitter. But this is the RF, and if people want to civilly discuss a player's strengths and weaknesses and how they can fit or affect our team, isn't that the purpose of a recruiting thread in a recruiting forum? Not everybody's going to agree. Some people will never agree. But a difference of opinion isn't ignorant and expressing it rationally isn't blasting.

His film is pretty solid. I'm surprised he's not higher ranked. He has good players on his team, wonder if we have any shot at one of his receivers?

I agree tweeting at a kid is no good. If people want to give an opinion on a message board, fine. Twitter is in his face. If he sees it on VN, he's doing the looking around himself.

Watch his highlights of you haven't. Kid is solid. He seems to go through his progressions, has a nice touch and can use his legs to keep a play alive. I think he's a kid that will garner more attention and I see why the staff thought he'd be a good fit.

Just watched his HUDL. Mobile QB that is accurate passing on the run.

The competition in that video looks bad. Very small players. Looks like a middle school. No knock on him though. He made some really nice plays.

His touch and mobility are what stand out the most to me. Solid prospect and will add good depth.

IMO you are wrong. Nothing wrong with what I said. They guy will get a chance to prove himself which is all he's asking for. If he beats out any of our existing or furure QB'S that'll be fine with me. But he's a project player that doesn't have to produce right away. Odds are though he won't see any meaningful minutes in games for the Vols.

Also, as to the connection between the two, do you think Butch would have pursued a highly ranked QB if he thought it might sway EJ away? Conversely do you think he would have taken such a risk on a 17 QB if he wasn't convinced EJ was coming? Or do you think he would have waited to see if he could pick up a more highly rated guy later? Do you really think Butch is that dumb?

I agree. I just don't see anybody bashing him on Twitter. I looked all over his page. He retweeted Sab's comment that he won't be a starter. I like that he has confidence and that doesn't deter him. But Sab's tweet wasn't to him. Lewis is getting all kinds of love on his Twitter. I think our fan base welcomed him very well. I feel really confused with all the the negativity in this forum today towards our fan base. I'm just not seeing it.

The posters complaining about the whiners are just as annoying as the whiners themselves. Shut up, put them on ignore, and move on.

I think cbj would go get the best possible in every class

He better anyway
