'17 CT QB CJ Lewis (Former TN commit 7/23/16)

Idk if anyone has bad mouthed him, and that shouldn't be going on at all. He seems like a good kid. I think it's completely fair to question his ability, especially looking at his offer list.

Yeah, well... What's YOUR offer list looking like?

The kid's character I don't think is bad mouthed. Their is concern of talent, non elite, waste of scholly etc. Everyone is not going to agree on the talent/ potential on every single commit. Not going to happen

To me this is the perfect qb to take in this class. The big guys we did not get. This kid is a great athlete with a great arm and looks to have a high ceiling. You may never see him on the field or you may get the next rg3 college version.

No one really knows anything about his character except for a few quotes in the articles. Butch saw something in him and took him. Hopefully he gets to sign come NSD. I believe he fills the need we have for a QB this cycle.

That said those coming along to try and explain away his rating would without a doubt be pointing and laughing had it been Vandy who took him when it was pointed out Mason had just stole a future SEC star from buffalo.

Steve. We don't appreciate your "professional" opinion. We've got opinions a plenty without your's that you get paid big money for forming through years of training and film study cluttering up our thread. Thanks Steve.

I'm no quarterback expert, but his film looks solid. He has everything you want. He fits our system, has the measurables, and seems to have a good head on his shoulders. We need a quarterback every class, and in my opinion, he was the best option left. Let him come in and take a few years to develop. You never know what can happen. Look at Ohio State in 2014.

I like reading the articles and all the recruiting info provided. Its something I enjoy. As for professional opinions, gotta be careful there. I mean the service he works for just bumped this kid like 300 spots in the overall based on the 8 hrs of sleep he had last night. LOL

How bout we revisit this commitment after his senior season. CJ might have a huge year and win a championship.

If the opinions of the analysts don't matter, the ratings don't matter.

You can't base your opinion of our class on the number of stars, then turn around and discount the system. Pick a side.

I'd love to be able to pick a service and go with it as following recruiting is better when there is a system in place to place a kind of value on the talent. When they pull stuff like they did here, it's tough. IMO it makes who ever bumped a kid that much based on him committing look bad. In turn, makes the service look bad.

Kid is retweeting Sab's tweets about never being a starter here....ugh

Some in here are no better than Sab. You guys talk like you truly think you know as much as these coaches. I find this fascinating. Carry on

Do you know as much as the POTUS or any other elected politician? But I'm sure you still have an opinion....

People need to stop bad mouthing this kid. Will be a good player:

247Sports Take: New Tennessee QB commit has all the tools

SIAP

Very complimentary.

Tennessee offensive coordinator Mike DeBord and the Vols staff has had Lewis on the radar for months. DeBord went and saw him at the school during the evaluation period and had him in camp in June where Lewis ran 4.5 in the 40-yard dash. DeBord and company are only taking plus-athletes at the quarterback position and Lewis certainly fits that mold. That’s great speed for the size Lewis will bring under center.

At the New Jersey Nike Football The Opening Regional I thought Lewis flashed a bunch with his arm strength, a fluid athlete that can throw on the move and just flick it with nice velocity on intermediate routes. And in addition to his legs, no question the strength of Lewis’s game is chucking it downfield with accuracy.

“He can throw the deep ball as well as anyone I’ve seen,” Cheshire Academy coach Dave Dykeman said.

You're making too much sense. You need to leave

This is why stars shouldn't matter. This kid didn't do many camps and plays in Connecticut with little exposure so he's not evaluated much. Then Tennessee accepts his commitment and they're just like oh I guess he's better than what we think.

Might have to take any bumps up or down based on commitment as meaningless. Go off what he was before announcing. I mean had they done it mid Sept, fine. At least he's played a couple games. The next day? Just looks very bad.

As for the camps I'd have liked to see Rutgers and Penn St offer. He camped at both.

I think it's fair to question things that seem suspect. But taking a guy at QB with an obvious high ceiling like this guy has doesn't seem suspect to me.

It's clear that he hasn't gotten a ton of exposure since he's only played QB for one year. Our depth chart is perfect to take a flyer on a guy like this. If he hits at QB, awesome. Home run. If he doesn't, he's probably a good enough athlete to put at WR or in the secondary somewhere. Literally no down side.

I think most people are getting annoyed at the big picture of recruiting as a whole though. All these
3 stars are wearing everybody down. That's understandable to an extent. But recruiting is a long game. Following it and actually enjoying it is easier if you just take things as they come. I would say if it's bugging you that much, then you might should take a step back.

SIAP but he's been bumped to #17 DT QB for anyone that cares. Bama bump

EDIT: sorry Scvolfan I missed your post earlier
