'17 FL OLB Shanon Reid (UT Committ 12/7/2016)

Dooley signed the number one player in the country? Wow, didn't remember that

Oh so we use ESPN rankings for everything now? Only when they favor us right? Huge get, but he's ranked #25. I call him number one overall too but I'm keeping it in perspective and the entire class in perspective.

Well, even if you don't go by ESPN, he's still a composite 5 star. Pretty sure Dooley didn't get many of those. But carry on with your negativity

Trey Smith is the best commit we've had since McKenzie. Not downplaying that, just saying the majority of this class looks like Dooley levels. Like this commit.

Does this kid remind anyone of JRM? Hopefully he balls out on special teams next year, enabling him to see the field a bit on D as a sophomore.

Class needs upgrading for sure. Have to like this kid, Trey, Chandler, Ignot, Crosby, Murphy, Gray, Fant and some others tho

Yep, I'm gonna say it...I hope the kid turns out to be a great player, but I'm a bit concerned with his tweets. Its one thing to be confident in yourself and its another thing to be full of yourself, especially when you haven't played a down of college football yet...not a smart thing to announce to social media that you are the best player in the nation that one lucky school will get..only setting yourself up to make enemies..both against your opponents and the guys in your locker room.

Reminds me of when Kongbo built himself up and started talking trash last offseason only to take a bite of humble pie when he found himself a bit down the depth chart.

I agree but I'd rather have this and tell him to calm down just a bit rather than trying to light a fire under him

Agreed. And I imagine the competition in spring camp will calibrate him about where he sits in the pecking order. If he comes out if that still thinking he's all that, then maybe he is.

If he was a slam dunk there would be no blurbs "didn't feel they had room." I hope he crushes it for us, but that spells LSU and the Florida schools have "better" options.

it's amazing how you guys crap all over an EE...

DISCLAIMER:
This is not a snarky post. Genuine question.

Why are we pumped about this guy? In state LB that Florida didn't offer?

Florida has 2 LB's this year. Ventrell Miller 3* 35th OLB in the country 76th ranked player in Florida.

The other is James Houston 3* 41st OLB in the country and 84th ranked player in Florida.

All Vol Shannon Reid is by far an upgrade over those two. He's 16th in the country as OLB and 31st ranked player in Florida.

Anyway, who cares who Florida offers and don't offer? They aren't anyone's measuring stick. These coaches have been on Shannon a long time, this commit just didn't up and happen over night.

Not to mention Florida is chasing our very own Solon Page right now.

No it doesn't. Maybe LSU but by what Ron posted Florida and FSU didn't want an EE.

I think the kid and UT made great decisions on both sides. I wouldn't trust LSU telling me to "wait until NSD" to see if they have room even if I wasn't an EE.

get off my jock and read the post in context...or do you not understand that concept?

Have you seen pics of this kid? He is thin---looks like a defensive back. He's got some serious bulking up to do to play LB in the SEC, it would seem.
