'17 FL WR Josh Palmer (UT Signee)

(In condescending tone) Caleb...Your tone is a bit condescending which leads me to believe you are compensating for something. If you have something worthwhile then post it and see who will discuss with you. It's typically telling when an "expert" goes straight to the negative. blah blah blah

I see no condescension in Caleb's post. Now, your post radiates and drips it.

Caleb you seem to be a guy that's studied some football, I have no idea what your real experience is and truthfully don't really care. Your tone is a bit condescending which leads me to believe you are compensating for something. If you have something worthwhile then post it and see who will discuss with you. It's typically telling when an "expert" goes straight to the negative. I watched his tape and feel he is probably a bit under rated. He does a lot of really good things and he has the physical tools that once developed for college level play will allow him to be successful. Beyond that time will tell.
You should be in a room with a scout you would really think he is condescending... And I am not being condescending just truthful I know a lot of people say, "well he needs to do better or he sucks!!!" But when I explain what he is lacking or needs to improve I am condescending.... Come on man loosen up I just wanted to fill people in on what the coaches will see and I promise coach A will say a lot more than that.... Why do you think people get recruited over... I can promise it isn't because they see a technically flawless player... Those comments actually are pretty nice because I peppered in what I liked about him too... I felt it was pretty even... It was all just little things that can make the kid better... I actually really like the kid which I had said previously.... And thanks for the guys that defended me... Was never trying to be condescending.... My bad if I was.

I'm just trying to say what I see... I also see a lot of potential in this kid as well... Just saying from a coaching prospective... I actually think he can contribute quickly.... Not trying to not pick just telling you what I see... Sounded like a football guy thought I would bounce ideas back to and forth is all...

How many releases does a typical HS WR have? That's something that's simple to teach. I'm looking at his footwork, physicality, speed and his ability to pluck the ball clean routinely. That's all I need in a prospect. Routes and releases are all on the WR coach. He needs to do his job and do it well.

And I would give our current WR coach somewhere around a B- to C+.

I criticize Coach ZA a lot, but when you watch practice videos it is weird that the WRs are not being properly developed or underperform. He seems to be very hands-on, intense, physical, and for the most part teaching solid fundamentals.

I saw a vast improvement in WR play this past season. Still saw way to many dropped balls though.

Separation has been a problem for the last 2-3 years and this year was no exception. It is a glaring problem when teams with terrible pass defense shuts our WR's down on the outside and we are forced to the flats and drags over the middle of the field.

Fair enough. My post was probably out of line and I apologize.

Do you think that's just the little nuances of playing WR? Like setting guys up for certain routes?

We don't even stem routes a lot. The route running is so mediocre it's ridiculous. Watch Clemson WRs then watch ours. Their routes are so much better than ours as a group.

Well out of those four I like all four but think his footwork could use some help... Like his speed... Love his physicality... High points the ball very well I thought his aggressive play to te ball was what was most appealing.... What exactly do you look for in footwork...?

I would of loved to see them stem Malone more... I thought it would be tough to stop a Dino stem on a post with him... He was and is a very crisp route runner (of that is how you say that) he really excelled in setting CB's up.

Our WRs still don't create enough separation on a consistent basis. One game they did was the Florida game.

BB, you just can't grasp the nuances of Azzani and his methods.

You're just a simpleton wandering around in the muck of the Deep South.

Don't you know he developed ANTONIO BROWN?????🤔

And just look who hes developed in 4 years at TN!

I think some of this can be contributed to personnel.

Name the last WR UT had that could line up and go to work in single coverage and simply create separation.

Jennings doesn't do it from a separation standpoint. Malone requires a certain route. Pwill - no. North- no. Smith - no. Pig's Jr year -maybe.

You could make the case for Byrd, but it would be a projection.

Hunters JR year is the last WR I can think of that could line up and demand attention.

UT seems to collect Wr's more in the mold of P. Burress as opposed to an A.Brown type.

I don't agree with Malone... He has good footwork sets up DB well made some TD's by himself with the way he runs his routes.... And Juan does a lot of things physically that puts him in good postions... Needs to make his routes more crisp but he is improving quite nicely with where he came from being a QB....

None of them run good routes. IMO

Malone ran the best two all year. The slant on Florida and the stop/go TD. Otherwise we watched a lot of talent just make plays. You don't have to be super quick or fast to create separation at WR. Every thing we run route wise looks so vanilla it's ridiculous.

He's still not aggressive enough in attacking the jump ball with his tools. Coming out of HS he would elevate consistently to win jump balls. I didn't see that at all at Tennessee. Should've been a lot better. IMO With his talent he should've been dominant every week.
