'17 GA CB/S Shawn Shamburger (UT signee)

It's called evaluations. Not star gazing. Hope we can hold on to him. He has a reallly good nack for finding the ball and we need that. His base cover techics: jamming, staying low, punch with off hand and ride the WR out will all improve once he gets on campus and puts in some work. I think he's a good find.

Weisman and Vickers I'd say have outperformed their ranking.

Weismann is a mediocre player on a mediocre to below average line. I'd say they nailed it

Vickers took till very late to be a contributor but certainly is not a great or elite player. I'd say they got that right too

So 2 of 4 w 4 stars and 3 of 17 with others. Percentages yet again show the same thing

Also Dobbs was a 4 star on at least 1 service

Just watched this guys mid season HL film. Honestly I would've pegged him as a high 3 to a high 4 star prospect (I know... I'm no expert). I see a fast physical player with good instincts for the ball and a decent/solid tacklerAll have said he plays at a talent rich HS against top competition. I say he's at least worth taking a 'flyer' out on. For all we know, and if history is any indication, he could be starting by the end of next year.

I don't think this is necessarily the response you're looking for.... but I would say it is this.

All of these highlight clips are just that, highlights. So when someone here points to that as proof.... They're pointing to a marketing presentation to prove the quality of something.

Have you ever seen an accurate fast food commercial? No. The sandwich you usually get is smashed almost flat with the meat often halfway off the bun. The people eating those sandwiches are almost always thin, healthy, happy, attractive, friendly, sexy,.....

These highlight videos show what the player and his helpers want people to see to get him the best offer possible.

MOST of the time with higher rated players, a kid is special enough for the recruiting sites to either see them in person or watch whole games. With the lower rated kids, coaches and their paid recruiting services look for players they can develop based on all of their film plus any other info they can gather.

Bottom line. The videos available to us do not provide even CLOSE to a basis for declaring a kid underrated.

It's almost like a perfect analogy for Volnation as well...

:)

Kids video looks good. Not great speed, but fast enough. Has a nose for the ball and isn't afraid to hit. I think he could surprise some people.

And good instincts. Actually turns and makes a play for the ball. Coach Martinez will coach all that out of him in no time!

12/31: Senior Shawn Shamburger intercepted two passes and was named the Most Valuable Player of the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association’s annual North-South game held Friday at A.J. McClung Memorial Stadium in Columbus, said Packers coach Rush Propst. Shamburger also broke up three passes and had four tackles, Propst said.

Either his stock is rising after his play in the all star game and he is getting a lot of new attention, or we need room for potential players much higher on our board at a different position.
