'17 GA CB Yusuf Corker

I think making upgrades is a necessary evil, especially in a program like ours that is in a "in between" stage where we are on the cusp of taking it to the next level. I think the problem is HOW Butch seems to be letting kids go--- I have seen/read on several recruits that the staff just quit communicating with them/radio silence... that is not the right way to handle the situation.... being up front with the recruit and his family and letting them know will go a long way from a integrity perspective... they will not be happy, but at least we didn't lead them on and have them potentially miss out on another opportunity because they were still guessing they were "good"....

Good post

Memorize the pledge of Recruitknicks Anonymous..."i will accept the coaches strategies i cannot change...and quit whining about them day after day, month after month, year after year..."

I can agree with that but that is not what Bruin is complaining about. At least not completely. I think most would agree that being up front is much better and shows the recruit that you ato least respect him and his family enough to treat him like a man. There have been a few that have complained about that but there have also been lots that have praised the coaching staff for helping place them at another school as well. Those stories seem to get forgotten in Bruin's crusade though.

Yep I have said many times the staff is being cowardly by just cutting off communication.
Any more questions or want to put more words in my mouth? Hopefully not so we can move on until you decide to pull my string agin. My answers will always be the same.

Combination of a number of the things.

1) playing time
2) recruits have mellowed on the slogans
3) nagative media scrutiny
4) family feel from hs coaches and families is lost by all the git shirts

I'm sorry you feel this way, we should have a really good class.

On the flip side both Cotman and the Gaddy twins seem to show that the staff was upfront from them. They straight up told Cotman we were looking for more experienced corners.

We rarely hear more than 1 side of the story with recruiting and I think certain posters(not you) that continue to harp on it make it seem worse than it actually is

Colman said his hs coach had to tell him that.

Lol. Nobody has to pull your string. As soon as you see an "injustice" you will point it out.... again. I was merely pointing out your hypocrisy, which you don't seem to enjoy.

On an on topic point, we need quality CBs something fierce. I hope Yusuf wants to ball out in orange.

He is a real sleeper in the class IMO.

Sounds like we are in a dogfight with SC for Nixon and Corker. Two battles we have to win.

IMO Nixon is all Vol unless something drastic changes. He loved Knoxville and said its one if not the best place he's been too. He absolutely loved his Tennessee visit. The guys on the team are also tweeting at him as talking to him like its a forgone conclusion. Honestly I believe it's 75%-25% that Nixon chooses Tennessee. Corker on the other hand has been a little more discreet lately, and I honestly don't have a feel for what he is thinking. Some recruits are good at hiding exactly where they wanna go, and I feel corker is one of those guys. I think the dogfight will be for him, but I do however give us the slight edge 55%-45% that we land him. USCjr won't stop trying though so we need to go all out to land him.

Ok I got it backwards lol. Thought we had a better chance at Nixon, but now I believe that we land corker for sure with Nixon going to USCjr. It's always a good sign getting a CB from Callahan though

“I still have a little decision-making to do over the week. It’s pretty much down to really two schools right now,” said Corker[.]

“I’ve been taking my official visits to places I normally couldn’t drive to and I haven’t been to and schools that were still interested, so that’s why I visited Kentucky and Michigan State first,” he said. “It was a very good visit. Had a chance to hang out with some of the players and talk to some of the coaches.

“One of the things that stands out to me is that I look up to our of their players, Cam Sutton,” Corker said, referring to Tennessee’s star senior cornerback. “When he was at Jonesboro (High School), I was in eighth grade and I always used to watch him play. He actually played against my high school, and they were really good. I heard he was going to Tennessee, so I always watched him play and things like that.

“And, also, the relationship I have with the coaches is pretty cool. And we played against one of the other teammates, Cortez (McDowell). He went to Locust Grove, and I actually played against him.”

No matter which school Corker chooses on Dec. 26, he said Tennessee is “a place I’m for sure going to take an official” visit in January. And he said the Vols might not be the only team that hosts him next month.

“I will try to take all three of my remaining visits,” he said. “I really don’t know 100-percent for sure which schools, though.”

The story notes that he has 4 finalists; however, Corker states that he is basically down to 2 schools. Unless a ton changes, it seems like it is down to USCe and UT. He's taking other visits to show respect to those that have recruited him since he may not have been able to travel to such schools due to distance and scheduling.
