'17 GA CB Yusuf Corker

Isn't his cousin, who was offered by Kentucky, a 2018 prospect? If so, does he not realize that Kentucky can pull his cousin's scholarship as soon as he signs his papers?

Bingo, you have 400 days to 'run out of room' or just take him as a PWO with financial assistance.

Well we have to sign somebody right?

Sincere question Ron, do you not think we're recruiting at a lower level?

This class isn't what we had all hoped for, no question. Losing to USC and Vandy hurts this class, badly. It can still end up a good class on NSD, we'll have to wait and see...

But the best thing that can happen is UT get off their asses and hire a David Blackburn TODAY and give Butch the ok to go upgrade the staff in a big way, we need a handful of better coaches and recruiters on this staff. If that happens, Butch can still turn this thing around, if not he'll be gone sooner rather than later.

In this class he wouldn't have been one of the "lower level" recruits. Plus, staff had made him a priority at a position of need. Would've been very happy to get him, especially after losing Nixon to SCar.

Those were chavis's words not mine. Hence the quotes.

I made a post earlier about this. He's about to find out the hard way. He better ball out his first year of he wants that cousin thing to be honored!

Mark this down to bump it later… He is going to learn a very hard lesson in the business of college football in the next year.

If people were upset we're recruiting "a lower level" wouldn't that make them happy when he went elsewhere? OR is it just not possible to make some people happy unless you finish #1 in recruiting and win every single game you play?

I don't care about finishing 1st in recruiting. I just want a coach who will win the games he is suppose to win and occasionally win the games he is not. And a coach who will win the recruiting battles he is suppose to win and occasionally the ones he is not. Beating Vanderbilt and f'ing Muschamp is NOT too much ask, especially when you are far superior in terms of talent. Beating f'ing Muschamp and UK for recruits shouldn't be too much to ask either.

Finishing first-or close to it-in recruiting and winning in this league are not mutually exclusive.

I agree, those were inexcusable losses. But he did beat UF and UGA (two years in a row) this fall, don't dismiss those W's.

Look, either he'll bring in some new assistants and turn this around next fall or he'll be fired and the new guy will have a better roster to work with than the last three UT HC's inherited. Nothing you and I can do about it.

Nobody disagrees with you but throwing a hissy fit on a message board doesn't help anything..

Folks - all the coaches have to do to pick up a 4-5 star college level CB with proven sub 4.3 speed is move Tyler Bird to his natural position. Then if they want to add to the true CB ranks move Micah Abernathy to his natural CB or NB position. Then if they want the S position solved all they have to do is move Rashaan Gaulden to his natural SS position.

Then there is no freak out over the 'loss' of a 3* CB project, of which there are already several on the roster. Let's just wait for the right fit.

U should have to be in the RF for an entire cycle before you can post to cut down on the knee jerks.

Make a deal for Akers.

Not sure our deals are good enough to play ball with the ones Ole Miss is throwing out. I'm not worried to much about our corners in this class. Buchanan and Osborne show a lot of promise and I like Labruzza and really like Shamburger.

Rashaun is not a natural SS...

Ron UGA and Florida are games that we should win with regularity. Those aren't games that we should win occasionally. Having said that, I credit Butch for getting us over those humps. I credit him for pulling us out of the ditch and rebuilding the brand. He hasn't been all bad. He is setting up the next coach to succeed at a level beyond his own capabilities.

All I was saying with that post is that it isn't just black and white. A lot are in the gray area who understand what is realistic and what is not.

It's funny, many of the same people upset that Coker just chose UK are the same ones who would have complained if he chose UT.

Not really. But there are a bunch here who assumed this kid was a lock... who said he was great though only a 3*.... that said he was a priority for UT.... who are now spinning like crazy to excuse Jones.

Players can see. Some of us tried to tell you all that if a coach didn't prove he could win within 3 or the most 4 years that recruiting will start to suffer. Now.... we have UK out recruit Jones for a "high priority" player.... but many are still in denial.

We're still in on the following recruits at CB guys for 2017:

3* '17 TN CB T.J. Carter
'17 GA CB Byron Terry
4* '17 LA CB Brad Stewart
3* '17 FL CB Zamari Maxwell
4* '17 CA CB Jaylon Johnson
4* '17 FL CB/ATH Christopher Henderson
3* '17 FL CB Ameer Speed
3* '17 LA CB Corey Straughter
4* '17 CA CB Deommodore Lenoir

I'm sure there are others under the radar as well.

Just because we offered does not mean we are still actively recruiting them, all resorts point toward Corker as being the only CB we are still actively recruiting. Of course if Lenoir or Henderson wanted in then it might be different.
