'17 GA CB Yusuf Corker

"While Reid was announcing for Tennessee, Vol coaches were in Georgia visiting with cornerback Yusuf Corker, who is a big priority for the Vols who need corners in this class. How big of a priority? Corker hosted Butch Jones, Willie Martinez, Tommy Thigpen and Bob Shoop on Wednesday. We still feel like Tennessee is the team to beat with just a few weeks until his decision. "

Yep. 12-26-16 is his scheduled commitment decision. Less than 3 weeks away.

He doesnt look very happy in the picture.

In reference to his many ear to ear grin photos. ...I suppose..? (BF)

I mean if u really look at the overall expression, its not like hes faking a smile, if anything he's holding back all that UT love the best he can..it's all in the eyes...amirite?

I certainly hope you are right.

The class is being refined and upgraded. We had decommits, but they were necessary casualties to make room for early contributors like Corker, Reid and Smith. They'll be others as well as we get closer to NSD. Corker has been shown he's a priority and not an option by the staff.

The regulars here say it year after year... "Wait until NSD." Everyone freaks out in April and June, and it's no use. It always changes, and barring a head coaching change, it always changes for the better.

What I'm most curious about is two of the decommits have been interior DL which we don't seem to have a replacement for but so desperately need.

Numbers are so tight that the Green Shirt and Blue Shirt route aren't an option. The two are in no way able to Gray Shirt this year. The staff felt they would have a hard time getting in, so instead of waiting and missing out on someone else, they did what was right for all parties and told them to look elsewhere.

Do we have anyone on the radar as potential replacements?

Read recently that he was likely heading to NCST.

Also, I've seen him compared on here to Vereen. Isn't he listed as a DE?

Yes but it seems like he will grow some and move inside in college. I am just mentioning him as on our radar...

Elijah Conliffe from VA is a player I wish the staff would look since they want quicker DT's. We have Eric Crosby and Kivon Bennett already committed. I'm sure they staff is looking.

I know that they are recruiting him, but I'm wondering if they will stop by tomorrow when they are in N.VA.

Wednesday Jones' travels took him to Georgia to see coveted defensive back Yusuf Corker. The Vols took Jones and three defensive staff members (Thigpen, Martinez, Shoop) into Corker's home.

While some have suggested Michigan State might be the favorite, we still believe Tennessee is the team to beat at this point. Having four coaches meet with Corker and his family meant a lot to him. He still plans to decide the day after Christmas.

He is going to visit Kentucky this weekend but the Wildcats are considered a long shot.
