'17 GA WR Jeremiah Holloman

Based on what? JG will likely be a backup next year while Eason wil probably be slinging it all over the field as a starter.

Throwing the football doesnt seem to be one of Tennessee's strengths. Look at the WR talent that is being completely wasted in our offense.

By our QB?

The only way JG starts over Dormady is if Dormady transfers or is injured. CBJ is not a risk taker. Would be more comfortable with the player with the most experience. JMO

I could actually see CBJ going with dual QB's next season, at least for the first few games. Practice can only reveal so much and we are fortunate, in this case, that we have some QB's that are very talented. Get them some playing time in the early part of the season and let's see how they, and the offense, respond when they are in the game.

I can see Guarantano just taking that spot. He wasn't here long and was pressing Dormady already. Passes look better than any other QB on the roster from what I watched in drills.

I think I would agree if QD had actual, tangible game experience similar to what Dobbs had prior to becoming the full-time starter, not just mop-up duty in blowouts.

I think the offseason, spring ball, summer workouts and fall practice will be a full-blown competition, and we may see both guys get time next season until one (hopefully) separates themselves and takes the job.

I think you have a good point about Butch's risk-averse mindset though.

oneida holloman, the mother of the top-100 senior wide receiver from newton high school in covington, ga., told 247sports’ kipp adams this week on vsporto’s sec recruiting buzz podcast that “georgia’s home” and they “love everything about tennessee.”

“of course, uga, kirby and coach coley, i’m huge fans of theirs,” oneida holloman said. “also, tennessee, coach z. We love tennessee, as well."

“tennessee is awesome,” oneida holloman said. “we go there. There’s a lot of love. We love the atmosphere. We love where it’s located. We love everything about tennessee. Tennessee is great, so they’ve been one of the top contenders since we went to visit. We really like tennessee.

“the staff is amazing. The team, the guys are great. They welcome jj as if he’s already one of theirs, so we like tennessee. Tennessee is big.”

JG is better for our offense by a landslide than Eason would be. He also has a stronger arm than Eason. Guy has a cannon. And look, I'm sure Eason will get better in the coming years, but compared to the other freshmen in the country who have started and have been playing, he is the least impressive. He was taken out of the game in the most important moment against Nicholls! Eason was in danger of losing to one of the worst teams in college football. Yeah, I'll take Guarantano. Plus, these recruits know who he is it's not like they have never heard of the best QB in the 2016 class. They most likely camped with him

Hahaha, competition for QB will be very open. They are trying to redshirt JG and has still found his way into the depth chart as basically a co-backup. If Dormandy starts it will be because he out performed JG. So if it's that much of a definite, you give me 3-1 odds on JG being the starter next season? If there is an injury to either player then the bet is off. Sounds like a good bet for you based on your opinion, no?

I could see a two qb system with those two. Butch had done it before with some success at Cincy.

When? I know he used both Brendon Kay and Munchie Legaux in a SEASON, but he wasn't shuttling them in and out during GAMES. He went with Munchie at the beginning of 2012 and ended with Kay.

I don't know if I necessarily agree with this. He had a rough game, but Eason is not the least impressive Freshmen QB. I watched the North Carolina game and he has a cannon man. All we have seen from JG is practice reels. Even Dobbs looks like a good passer in practice. Eason did it against UNC in a real Top 25 matchup. Several of the balls he threw that game were incredibly accurate, and unlike Dobbs, he hits his receivers in stride for big plays.

Personally, Eason makes me very nervous. He might be the most talented QB we face all year. Him, or Jalen Hurts.

We remember that NC game very differently. The throws I remember were way off but PI calls bailed him out. Other than that he threw a lot of short passes, and one underthrown ball to a wide open receiver for a big gain. But Texas, FSU and Bama''s QB look better. Also, Eason was exposed in that Nicholls game. He looked awful

LOL.

The guy will be garbage this year and for the rest of his career. He's a another Blake Barnett. A five star BUST.

Our passing game will be better next season, and don't trash this season just yet. But I believe Gaurantano will be the guy when it's all said and done. Every coach has said that in practice that Gaurantano has the most tools out of all the quarterbacks. He's like a mix between Dobbs and Bray. He has a cannon of an arm, and he can run like Dobbs can. If not for Dormady being here for a year Gaurantano would be the back up. This has been stated by many of the local media. I think it's JG and Sheriron Jones, and I think after JG wins the job Dormady will transfer out. Then our QB depth will be Gaurantano, Jones, and Lewis. This is the scenario I see, and I just see Dormady as more of a Texas tech or Baylor QB. Gaurantano is the quarterback we have been waiting for this offense to completely click, and we will throw it all over the yard with him and run it all over the yard as well.

Yeah I'm excited about him as well. He apparently is faster than Dobbs so will probably be more of an elusive runner. But Dobbs is the best power running QB in football and he can make people miss

On the contrary, I believe that Butch has been nothing but a risk taker ever since he arrived.

In the 2013 class, Butch took 21 signees. 9 are still on the roster and one left early for the NFL.

In the 2014 class, we signed 32 and in 2015 we signed 30. Not taking into account the attrition we had from these two classes, I believe this is an indication that Butch Jones took a huge risk. He gambled that his staff could identify enough players in his first two full classes to essentially build a base to work from. He has been enormously successful.

With the 2016 class, when he knew he had far fewer spots to work with, he concentrated on adding depth at positions he knew were lacking and were critical for the future. At this point, I think he was enormously successful in 2016 as well. But, next year will likely be the year when we can make a better decision on that.

So, in my pinion, the idea that Butch Jones will never start Guarantano over Dormady because he does not take risks is wrong. I think past history shows that he is willing to take a risk.

Georgia just landed a 4 star receiver. Is the Holloman front looking good for us?

I dont know about that. I heard on vol sports radio where his mom talked about how important throwing the ball is to his recruitment. Now she did say she loves Tennessee and the coaching staff, but our inept passing game may hamper us severely here.

You can spin stats to parents however you like to your advantage. With our inept passing game so far this season we can still brag that Josh Malone has two TD receptions already and leads the SEC in yards per reception. You can also say that Holloman is a better version of Malone at this stage of his career. We're very much still in this one.
