I'm just waiting for Butch to go OBC and play two quarterbacks the whole games. I mean it's hard to bench Dobbs when he runs for over 100. I think the passing game can improve, they haven't even tried to throw it down the field because they lack confidence in the Line and probably Dobba. We have some super talented guys on the outside, I'm sure a couple of them can get open.
This should happen. Split time between 2 QB's and throw the damn ball.
Agreed. It's going to get harder and harder to run as it becomes clearer and clearer that Dobbs can't throw the ball down field and isn't allowed to throw it over the middle.
Guys, it's not the QB's fault. You can't throw the ball when the defenders get to the QB before the ball does.
Peyton Manning in his heyday couldn't throw behind this O-line. They're giving their all for Tennessee every Saturday, but their all just isn't enough. This is what hairball when you an entire recruiting cycle and sign zero OL prospects.
We're still suffering from the Dooley Effect.
Dobbs had pretty good protection against Arkansas on many occasions and so missed throws. They rolled him out and he still missed throws. The problem isn't all on the OL.
And when Dobbs does make a good throw sometimes the receiver still drops it. Preston had a bad fumble and a bad drop on Saturday and Malone doesn't give much effort to go get a ball if it doesn't fall right in his lap from what I've seen.
The fact is all 3 are hurting our passing game on any given play and all 3 need some improvement for us to be successful. (Those 3 being pass blocking by the O-Line, accuracy and timing from Dobbs, and effort by the receivers)
Did I read correctly that Johnson was sacked ten times in his last game, or was that a typo?
I hope scouts won't rob Johnson's rating cause he's clearly an elite talent. It's just that's he's on a very bad high school team and he can't help that.
I don't think his rating will be affected much. He performs really well at camps and I think the recruiting analysts take his team's poor talent into consideration.
