With spring break ongoing at high schools around the country several prospects continue to go in and out of the Anderson Training Center as they stop in to see Tennessee.
Earlier this week it was Georgia linebacker Tyrone Hopper and on Thursday it was offensive line commitment Ryan Johnson and 2017 four-star quarterback Hunter Johnson.
Johnson has now visited Tennessee several times over the course of the last year and the Vols were one of the earliest programs to offer the young but extremely talented signal caller.
Expected to be on of the top quarterbacks in his class, already a top-100 prospect, Johnson is someone Butch Jones and former offensive coordinator Mike Bajakian prioritized early last year after Johnson's freshman season.
Tennessee already has a lot of competition, with Notre Dame offering earlier this week and a lot more offers to come, but Johnson seems to find a way to make it back to Knoxville every several months. While it's early, Tennessee has positioned itself well for Johnson.
-Rivals.Talked with Rivals100 2017 QB Hunter Johnson late last night and he said he plans to be at Tennessee this weekend again, has told the coaches he is coming.
Also talked with Detroit Cass Tech 2017 Rivals100 WR Donovan Peoples-Jones and he said he and three-star safety Demetric Vance were possibly visiting this weekend, not for sure yet. Both hold Tennessee offers.
Man. If Butch can lock this kid up early AND we have good seasons in 2015 and 2016, we have a real shot at a top 3, possibly even top overall class in 2017 given the level of in-state talent.

No doubt. If we lock up the #1 overall QB and top 10 player a year or more before signing day, and we have the expected improvements, winning 8-9 games this year and 9-11 in 2016, and we have a ridiculous (historic?) in-state class in the same year, then we have no excuse for finishing outside the top 3-5, and we have a real shot at a 1-2 class.
Now imagine that. Our 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017 classes all on campus at the same time. Memories of the past few years will disappear pretty quickly as we ease into being perennial playoff contenders.
Pretty incredible. Taking a roster that was in all likelihood 60th-70th in the nation on Dec. 7, 2012 and improving it to top 5 by Feb. 5, 2017 is a hell of an accomplishment. And it's 100% looking like we'll get there under Butch.
And to be honest, 4 top 5 recruiting classes in a row may be good enough for 2nd in the nation next to Alabama, and at that point those games will come down to who has home field advantage and which team gets a lucky break.
