1. Butch is the best recruiter. It doesn't get much better than him. Once he gets a national title, or sec championship getting a top 5 class becomes much easier. Saban recruits good because he has multiple championships. 2. You can not sign over 25 players every year. He front loaded his classes because Tennessee was Vanderbilt talent wise before butch got here. the rebuilding he is doing is phenomenal.
OK. Let me see if I have this straight. In this one week...there have been three de-commits. Indications are that two of them were asked to look elsewhere (a point that seems to be being overlooked here) and the 3rd is a 2017 commit.
I'm suppose to be panicking over this? Should I be calling for Butch's head on a platter too?
Someone (preferably one of you supposed "realist"....a term that I equate to you telling me you're stupid) tell me how I should be feeling about this.
Remember last year when we had another highly ranked qb committed and he all of a sudden decommitted? Then, along came Guarantano. Similar situation IMO. A dual threat guy replaces a very good, pro-style qb.
Hunter is considered the #1 QB of that class. I don't think you can improve on that. There is no positive to him decommitting...only good thing is he is not going to another SEC school.:hi:
Looks to me like a great player looked at our roster and thought better of it. That is a sign of talent beginning to stack up. Winning follows soon after that. No worries. Good luck @ Clemson son. We'll holla.
I don't think, in this day and age, you can sign a 5 star QB every year. Kids want to play. We are literally loaded with QB talent. Johnson isn't any better of a prospect than Dormady. I'm glad we have Jones too. Plus we have the NJ devil coming in a few months. We are fine. The only thing I don't like was reading about how Johnson was hanging out with Tee in Knoxville. Recruiting our guys for Clemson seriously irritates me. Yes Clemson is after Tee.

He may be the number one rated QB but did he really fit this offense. Also, these ratings are very subjective. Is he a great talent? Sure.
But, I'm not going to freak out over a '17 recruit having a teenage, caught up in the moment, puppy love change of heart. He's liable to flip 5 more times between now and signing day. This hurts UT from a public perception point than anything else.
There are plenty of good QBs out there that fit this offense much better than HJ ever would. Ironically, he doesn't really fit Clemson's either.
Go Vols!So after all of the fun you all let me have last night, I will end with this...
It sucks that HJ decommited. There is no positive to it at the moment. Some of you are extreme optimists, which is great, but it's hard to find the positives in what has happened the last couple of days.
Maybe Butch runs the table and signs a top 10 class. I doubt it. I think it will be 15-20, but that will be alright if he has another top 5 class in '17.
I think Butch was a top 3 recruiter for the '14 and '15 recruiting years combined, but back then he was selling playing time, now the players look more at his on the field results against the top tier schools.
Finally, I honestly am not a troll. However, I never thought that many of you would get so riled up about my comments. I did get a huge kick out of all of your responses, though. 😂
My posting will pick up as signing day gets closer, but I'll try not to rile anyone up too much more. If I did offend anyone, I apologize. Go Vols
