'17 IN QB Hunter Johnson (Former UT Commit 8/23/15) (Clemson commit)

As long as we keep Jarrett committed, and signed on NSD, I could care less about HJ flipping to Clemson. From watching both players play, IMO Jarrett is the better QB that's been successful against way better competition. Don't get me wrong, I would like to see HJ stay with our Vols, but I think he's realized that its going to be a shot out for playing time at Tennessee. In all my 37 years of watching our program, Ive never seen a laundry list of QBs like we have now. From what I've seen on Dormady so far, is he's got a cannon for a arm, and real good size. Then we go to Sherion Jones, he throws a good ball, and he's got decent wheels if he has to run. If we can hold on and fight the other teams of till NSD, and get ink to paper, Guarantano IMO is absolutely a program changer at QB. From watching him play aganist some of the best players in a few of the all-star games and camps, he could quite possibly be the best QB we've had since the great Peyton Manning! It would not surprise me one bit, if one of these young guns dethrown Dobbs this spring going into the season. In other words, losing HJ for the 17 class doesn't worry me at all. And hopefully Butch and his staff will stay on Tee Higgins, like they have done in the past with our local home grown kids, and have him wearing the ORANGE & WHITE and representing the great university of TENNESSEE on fall Saturdays in Knoxville! GO VOLS!

EXACTLY!! Just got done texting an Indiana friend the same thing. It's not sour grapes and would love to have Hunter but 2 things here:

1) I have always loved what JG brings to the table and if he is what I think he is then he is our future (with a QB battle with Dormady of course). So it just doesn't sting that much. Extremely high on JG and very excited.
2) Never counted a kid committing this far in advance. Hell, we can't even count on our verbals for next year.

Oh well Good Luck to him. Plus, the Jarrett twee a couple of days ago was all I needed to know about him. The kid has been die hard since his commitment:

@Guarantano2 - "LOL, if you want to go win SEC championships & go to big time bowl games come to Tennessee. Jump on board or watch us win. Simple"

I seen it on TigerNet Clemson message board, and they were mad as hell at Jarrett, for that tweet. They were saying he's overrated and childish. Lol. Like I said before, I'm not worried one bit about HJ decommiting. If I had to pick, I would take Jarrett any day of the week! The thing I really like about Jarrett, is he really shows that he's 110% committed to the Tennessee program, and he wants to be here. Players like him, are the kids we need suiting up in the Orange & White on Saturdays! Go Vols!

That message board smells like cat food and sadness.

You can't blame HJ for decommitting.

Look who is here now and who is coming in.

He may not have wanted to wait his turn, the depth chart wasn't favorable or whatever but it's ALL GOOD.

Let this play out...

I get the sense HJ is on a power trip. He likes to be in control of others (I.e. his pursuit of Tee and Amari). He may be a great QB and genuine kid but that's the sense I get.

Didn't want him
Too small
Butch really just recruited over him
Doesn't fit our system.
Doesn't have enuff speed
Committed too far in advance
Lives too far away.

Glad this one took himself out. He's got head issues, which would translate into headache issues to his teammates, Butch and the staff.

Why does the kid have "head issues"? Perhaps he correctly saw a logjam at the QB position at Tennessee what with QD, Sheriron and Guarantano ahead of him. Or maybe, for whatever reason, he just thinks Clemson is a better fit/gives him the better opportunity to succeed, be that with scheme, personnel, coach relationships, or even overall health of the program. Kids change their minds all the time, even qbs 1 1/2 years away from reporting to campus. Doesn't really mean they have "head issues".

This is the same guy that thinks Brandon Phillips is better than Joey Votto because he had more RBI one year...

I think the reason some feel he might be a head case is not because he decommitted, but because he allegedly was recruiting for Clemson on his visit here while seemingly being committed to the Vols.

Now that's a different story. If true, he can pound sand. But doesn't necessarily mean he has "head issues", just low character.
