'17 LA RB Trey Coleman (UT signee)

This guy runs pretty hard, takes some licks. I really like that he always tries to get that extra yard. Still, looks like a poor man's John Kelly to me. Might could make a good linebacker.

Looks like his heart is with LSU. UT was the first P5 to give him an offer so I think that was why he jumped on board. As I have said before I am not impressed with his film, rating, or offer list. I doubt LSU offers, he will probably end up at UT backing up Ty and Cam.

Does John Kelly go by Cam?

JK. I think we get Chandler. Likely miss on Akers.

Trey just dm'd me on Instagram asking for a shoutout lol. Thought that was pretty cool! He also said he can't wait for the Vols to be back on top

DM him back and tell him he needs to inform twitter world LSU blows and a late offer would be an insult. Otherwise, it's like we didn't even know him. LOL

Is there anything you have heard that suggests that LSU wants Coleman? They have not made an offer. If Coleman was a great back LSU would be all over him.

From what I was told, LSU wants 2 RBs (currently have Clyde Edwards-Helaire) but unless its Akers (which is probably slim) they will most probably sit this one out, but it is a long time to go before signing day and things could change, as far as I know he hasn't been invited to the Elite Camp. However, just looking at Coleman's tape kind of explains the lack of interest, his style is not really suited for LSU's offense.

I think he could do well in a system that would could better highlight his skillset, I don't think LSU is ideal at least looking at the tape. imo

He doesnt have the bruising size or raw speed a lot of LSU backs have.

Justin Vincent
Micheal Ford
Labrandon Tolfield
Murphy
Leonard Fournette
Could all take it to the house

Spencer Ware
And some more recent backs had power.

Coleman is developmental. Hes good size. Decent speed but not a burner. Great balance vision and runs well behind his pads.

Plays for a great program down there. I really like the kid.

I thought per VN the benefit of committing all these marginal kids was to insure we beat the feeding frenzy when they blow up?

Seems to me if he blows up HE gone and if he doesn't then he gets a git shirt.

He'll have a good season and then sign with us.

Murphy

Murphy is actually somewhat of a good comparison, he was a good kid and worked hard but he just didn't have the right toolset at LSU. He actually was on the Jags roster for a few years. Brandon Bolden to me had that type of toolset, went to Ole Miss and it was a much better system for him than if he went to LSU.

This kid could develop into a Bolden type player at the right program. LSU has taken chances on some less than bruising types i.e. Holliday and Gore, and I wouldn't be surprised if they don't try and sign Anthony Williams in 2018 (he's bigger than Holliday but not by much). :)

They added Lewis. IF..IF.. Chandler and Akers happen to choose UT, I'd be SHOCKED if Coleman got a LOI to sign from UT.

Using 4 scholarships in a class on RBs? Probably not.

My guess is they will count Lewis against the 2016 class. Either way it doesn't matter. He will still be a year ahead of the 2017 RBs. However, I do agree that we will probably only take 2 RBs in 2017 with the addition of Lewis for 2016.

Like that Christmas kid

Lewis could blue shirt. We're down a RB from last year and possibly losing two, so I could see us making all four work. It would be a great problem to have.
