'17 MS TE Chase Rogers (Former UT commit)

Who knows what really happened? Coaches can't comment on any of this. For all you know his dad is pulling this crap to cover his ass when kid bolts.

Could be. None of us know. You have to sort of connect the dots here. I tend to belive what the dad says. I don't think he has any reason to cover his ass. If he he was going to decommit (not asked to look around), I suspect he'd just quit coming round. I suspect he wouldn't feel he owes us anything.

Rogers had is best game of the yr in my opinion. 6 rec 128 yds 1 td but had a 70 yd TD and 65 yd TD called back on penalties. Would have had 258 yds and 3 tds. His speed and separation was best all year.

Hope one way or the other the coaches got back with you and/or your son.

Either way wish your son the best

I know the process, I ask pecking order after their offer. I was told top 3. Tenn concern was Ole Miss stealing him because I played at Ole Miss. I told Them that I am a man of my word. Good as gold. He had nothing to worry about Ole Miss. After OM offered I text him to reassure him of our family commitment to Tenn. Chase will play big time ball. Communication has slowed down. Two of my texts has been ignored. Ole Miss lost us because of slow played back fired. If Tenn loses us it's because of lack of attention. I have put my life and knowledge into preparing Chase for this. He is special and we are staying committed but looking at other options. I don't like the system that is in place for recruiting. You can't fully trust anyone unless you are a 5 star

I'm sure even some 5stars are snubbed at places like Alabama and OSU but that's still not an excuse for the coaches to ignore you guys

Well it's not like we do this ever year. You have 1 shot to help your son get to a program that fits his abilities. Tennessee is a great fit. We committed early to put behind us. It amuses me to see the guys that drag it out. Top 10, top 5.... dont get me wrong. I cried after Chase broke two records. We are very blessed.. I thank God everyday for not taking him that day he drowned at 4.. He is special..

Thank you for your updates. I sincerely want to see Chase become a Vol on NSD. Butch knows he needs to make modifications in the O that should benefit your son and other skill players greatly.

I try not to talk to recruit's/player's parents so much since Croom's mom took something I said completely different than what I meant one time, but I'm going to make an exception this time. I really like your son. I think he could be very beneficial to this team. I however am not a coach, so I don't know where there heads are at and what they are thinking. However...my advice to you would be this. If in fact your son becomes a part of the UT football team, leave VN and do not come back.

It does not matter how thick skinned you think you are. This is your son. Idiots abound on here. The first dropped pass he has. The first "not up to par" game he has. The fu***ing trolls and idiot fans, who truly know nothing more than the score of the game, will be out in force. Don't put yourself through that.

My guess is that this advice will prove to be true regardless of where your son ends up.

I will definitely not be on a message board. I can handle anything. I even thought that it maybe the reason they have backed off. But if it was a problem communicate with me. I think I started to inform the fans of who he is inside and out. Then developed some repot. It's a great insite for the fans to see how it all works. I know they have to build the best team. You have academically ineligible, you have the players who's word is nothing and so they play this game. A player like Chase who will never get in academic trouble who was raised with character and a proven ability to not only catch and run great but also catch tough catches over the middle. About done with it now. Thanks for the advice, well taken

Did not know the story about your son almost drowning or actually drowning and coming back. That is awesome and having your child is a great blessing regardless of his abilities on the field or whatever he pursues in life. I have two miracles myself and would take a bullet for them like I know you would with Chase. Life is hard and can hurt sometimes and it hurts us more than the kids I think. Tell Chase to hang in there and it sounds like he is a fine young man with great family. Prayers for whatever is best for him and his journey in football and life. Hindsight is 20 20 and regardless what decision he makes for football if he tries to follow what God wants for him with a pure heart and intentions then he will end up in the best place for him because God will work everything for his good. Good luck sir and I really hope Chase does end up in this class and is a VFL.

Short version. Found him at the bottom of a pool. Did cpr for over 2 minutes and he came back. 4 months later he tells me he had a vision of 2 angels and my late grandmother holding arms out welcoming him. He just got a tattoo from that day on his arm. Gates of heaven, date and 3 doves. We are blessed and he understands he has a purpose.. It will work out, it always does.. Thank you my friend.

Once you commit you shouldn't need your ass kissed. Staff's should be free to focus their energies on the next commit, and as a future player, recruits should want the staff to be out assembling the best possible team.

I think there is a difference between wanting your ass kissed and concerns when you hear about the staff's interest in other tight ends and take a commitment from one.
