'17 MS TE Chase Rogers (Former UT commit)

It's going to be tough next year. The East will take a step forward and we will take a step back with talent and experience .

Why don't you on back and read the thread from the beginning? Mr Rogers said from the beginning that it was a "contingency offer". Exactly as I said they did. I will not deny that I'm disappointed that the way they part with these kids is simply cut off communication. That's a crap move IMO.

I am very schooled on the process. I asked Coach Scott where Chase was in the pecking order to get a feel for stability with the offer. He understands I am a man of my word and he is also. He said Chase was top 3. He told me that he would worry in months to come after offering Chase. Others will notice what he found in Chase. He flew into town 8 weeks ago and told us, Chase maybe his only TE this class if a few targets fall away. McKitty was one he wanted. They contact Chase 6 days a week to touch base. Don't think he is at risk of being pushed out...

The only thing that is said here that is contingent is being the only TE in the class.

I appreciate how hard you want to fight that our staff is complete scum bags when it comes to this subject of dropping recruits by just ignoring them but you have followed this too long to believe that isn't the Case now man.

Please consider that some things are better left unsaid on a public forum.

It is wrong for them to do that no matter if it is one recruit or several every year. Just be straight with them. Maybe they feel recruits are not straight with them, so maybe that is why they do it idk, but I do not see how the opinion I stated was being "sissies".
People are sissies when they're flabbergasted by this. It's pretty simple, we took a different TE. Both have minor SEC interest. One plays doo doo competition and dominated, the other is raw and much more athletic and has much better stature and frame. This has pretty much been known since we took the other TE. Idk why do many people are upset by this. Same thing happened with Jerome Dews. Any surprise that this didn't happen for Tim Hart who didn't have a family member on the board? Happened earlier this class with the Tucker kid from Roswell who I thought was a pretty solid player.

It's pretty simple, one side wanted the other more than the other side wanted them. The UT coaching staff made their choice, you can question it, but being upset or whatever by it is just plain dumb IMO. Questioning the ethics is dumb. Wow we didn't call to say "we don't want you anymore". The first hint should've came when he didn't get an official offer letter when those could be sent out (August 1? September 1?). This isn't a sudden thing. The writing should have been on the wall for a long time

This whole situation with Rodgers was a bit puzzling. So I looked at Brown's VN page to try to get some idea of what might be happening. It's clear that Rodgers is talented and is a good passing target. When I looked at Brown's page one thing stood out. He's 6'4" and Rodgers is 6'2". That may not seem to be important, but I'm thinking that Brown's frame will better take the extra weight needed for a SEC level TE. You always need to remember that a TE's job is equally blocking and pass catching. Maybe I'm totally off base on this, but I think Brown may more of an upside based strictly on projected size. Just my thoughts. Wishing Rodgers the best of luck. I think he would have been a great VFL.

Think you got the heights switched. Looks like Rogers is the taller and heavier kid to me

15 receptions for 180 yards and 2 TDs in 10 games this year as a starter is not SEC level. He's playing because we don't have any other options at TE.

Caught everything thrown his way last season? Umm better stop watching recruit HS film and watch the game tape.

He gets pushed back frequently off the LOS and is a below average blocker IMO.

I expect more from our starting Junior TE who's been starting since he was a true freshman.
I think Ethan has great potential, but for anyone to say he's elite right now is fooling themselves. He's an average blocker and a slightly above average receiver. Top 5-7 in the SEC rn seems fair.

Size, but also Brown has only played TE for 1 season. They liked what they saw enough to offer him. Size and athleticism trump production in high school sometimes. This is one of those times

I went back and looked. Brown is 6'4" and Rodgers is 6'3". Not sure where I got the 6'2". At this point it is just a guess. It would be interesting to see them side by side.
