'17 NJ RB/ATH Johnathan Lovett (Baylor commit)

Lovett has released his top 6 schools in no particular order:

Iowa, Penn State, Rutgers, UT, Michigan State, & Maryland.

I really think we're moving up & doing it quickly because we offered this recruit on 12-21-16 so a short time ago.

To already be in his top 6 is quite remarkable especially when this recruit has received nearly 20 offers. He even released a tweet today of himself wearing a UT hat & jersey. :good!:

You do know that generic picture isn't of Lovett, it's a Photoshop edit to add his # and name on a UT jersey right? Made by UT Football's graphic design guys

He did not know that and now you've ruined it for him. :)

Nothing wrong with having 5 RB's but I do think this means we are probably out of it on Akers, Etienne, & Felix all in my opinion.

Otherwise we wouldn't have offered another RB this late in the process but he can also play other positions because he's considered an ATH as well.

He is an athlete and could play a number of positions i.e. ,cb, safety. lb, . He has a good offer list so I would not be up in arms if he signed.

Where are you talking about a picture of Lovett? You quoted a post of mine that has no picture at all in it. Did I post one of him in a tweet over in the tweet forum?

If so, yes I know they photoshop sometimes but that's not a big deal if done by the school. Thanks!

Just saying, that isn't a "photo of himself wearing a UT hat and jersey" it's a Photoshop edit made for him. Pretty sure like 10+ kids got the same edit and multiple kids tweeted it out.

This. What's the source on his top six?

Bleacher Report is my source this time for Lovett. It was posted 2 days ago. There's a ton of stories posted on Bleacher Report to sort thru. I came across it last night but it was posted from 2 days ago. Scout had a hand in the process too because they're connected sort of about stories & articles.

I wouldn't come on here to tell lies for nothing. I'm a 100% honest man Fingers. I really don't care much for Bleacher Report but I do sort/surf thru stories there about every 3-4 days.

You wait 3-4 days & go back & there's tons of articles that have been posted & missed not just in recruiting but in all sports.

Tony could tell you but then he'd have to kill you.

It's actually a long story. I do post summaries of stuff like you all post Ron with the VIP access but I don't do it as much as you'll & Freak knows all about it. I choose not to post summaries as much as you all do but it's nothing anybody has done.

Yeah, I said it that way but in no way was that what I actually meant that the recruits do this themselves. Thanks! :good!:

I did , didn't think maybe I was or was but may somewhere in the vicinity of. But, thinking back, I'm sure that I could or could've acted/ typed things I may or may not have been privy to on this or the other site. In which so called recruiting service it may or may have not been,🙈

Like this guys film. Looks pretty good. Just picked up a cb to the good guys

I like how he runs, and he has a good frame to add some weight. Probably similar game plan to Fils-Aime. In the weight room for a year, only used if necessary, and then start to really contribute year two three.

Meanwhile, running backs coach Robert Gillespie is supposed to travel to New Jersey to have an in home with John Lovett. The Vols have not been in Lovett's home yet as they offered him a scholarship after the dead period started.

The fact that we're sending Gillespie to visit this kid and not Jordan or Etienne is telling IMO.

Tells who the staff likes our chances with best.

he doesnt even have a visit set up though and Jordan does. Im sure Gillespie will set that up with him during the in home. I like this kid and jordan both.

Personally I like Jordan more, but I'll defer to the staff's judgment. If they like Lovett more, there's probably a reason.

Of course there could always be some other reason Gillespie is visiting Lovett instead of Jordan first. But I agree with what Newt said in the other thread about sending Mahoney to visit Etienne not being a great sign.

I'd like to see a comparison between Lovett and Jordan. Lovett seems like more of an APB , speed guy while Jordan is the more traditional between the tackles. It may be just a matter of which skill set they feel they need more.

One coach cannot physically be everywhere and meet with the recruits. Likely, coaches are covering assigned area of the country. Gillespie in NJ, Mahoney in Louisiana, etc.

Now, the assignment to different areas of the country may be an indication. If strictly for RBs, then the assignments may be an indication of how the coaches feel about a certain recruit. Or...there may be other recruits in that area of the country that are more pressing...or a combination of these things.

Then again, given the AD hiring situation, maybe there is no rhyme or reason to the assignments. That would be par for the course.
