If you think it's unusual for a player who committed as early as Higgins did in the process to de-commit but then still sign later then you must not follow recruiting at all... especially when you're talking about a local recruit. He has said that Tennessee is still a 'priority' and I just don't see Butch losing a player from Oak Ridge that we really need.

I imagine with him committing so early, some of the schools have cooled on recruiting him. He may have opened it back up simply to ensure 4 OVs to some places he wanted to check out for fun.

My mother was born and raised in Anderson County, went to ETSU and all of her family still lives there. My dad went to a small private college in FL with no football team so he was never drawn to any team in particular. When he married my mom it gave him a team to root for. UT was all I ever knew and it was one of only 2 schools I applied to, the other being my dad's alma mater.

You never saw a group of fans root for FL bowl sites more than us cause it was the only time we got to see them. The stretch from 93-97 was awesome as we had 5 straight FL bowls haha.

I knew all of like 3 people from up north at Clemson. Most non-natives were from ATL metro and Charlotte metro (granted, both are overrun with carpetbaggers).

What do you want/need to do while in school? I've never understood this "nothing to do" claim. I went to class, bars, athletic events, an occasional movie and an occasional trip to the Smoky's (which isn't Knoxville). You can do all that in Clemson or within an hour of campus, tops.

Lake Hartwell is a pretty good place to hang when in the Clemson area.The scenery is usually pretty good.

Yeah, Rodgers is not even a high 4, imo. I would only consider him a big loss because he is from Knoxville and a legacy. We really just need Higgins... and we still have a great shot. We just need to have a great season and show some life in the passing game.

I don't know if Rogers wants to be associated with his dad. Maybe he thought he did when he first committed to USC, but as we can see things have changed.

What I do know is that growing up in Knoxville (which Oak Ridge is pretty much Knoxville) is that you grow up a VOL fan. Unless your family isn't, but that's few and far between. Pretty sure both Tee and Amari are UT fans as well.

Its almost a yr to signing date. Everyone will still recruit Rodgers and everyone will recruit against Clemson instead of Tennessee.

Same for Higgins. Him not being committed to Vols means everyone will not be slamming Tennessee all the time.

All that said, Barton Simmons of 24/7 said this am that top 7 players in Tennessee all leaning out of state right now....I think we are seeing the impact of the Vols sucking from 2008-2014.

I think so too. Higgins' interest in basketball could become something to watch when schools like Ohio St and Michigan St come calling. I still think he ends up at Tennessee but it will be a fight and our WR's needs to show something this fall besides just downfield blocking.

Shameful. If they don't want to be apart of the Vol army then we will find ballers somewhere else.

Butch needs to lead team 120 to ATL. We have talent....no excuses
