'17 TN ATH Amari Rodgers (Clemson commit)

Why do people want Tee Martin back here? He went out of his way to insult a player who dons the orange and white. No VFL should ever disrespect one of our players giving their all for Tennessee. He lost my respect a lot regardless of where he coaches. I would think the last national championship winning qb for Tennessee would have a little more pride and still cheer for us, at least a little. Jmo. :hi:

I would like him back because he's a better WR coach than Azzanni. I'll forgive him for giving a candid opinion on a recruit in a situation where he didn't know he was being recorded. I bet our coaches make similar comments about other teams' recruits.

Sure would be nice to get both of them next year.

Especially since Tee has experience working with QBs, WRs, and as a passing game coordinator. In theory, all we'd need to bring him in is one of two openings. So either Mahoney could get replaced, Debord becomes OL coach/OC, and Tee becomes QB coach or Tee takes over Azzani's role completely.

Volquest_Paul: Tennessee target and USC commit @arodgers_3 had four total TDs tonight. Three receiving and one on a punt return. Stock continues to rise.

Thought Tee had no interest in UT job

No interest would have meant not coming here to be interviewed at all. I would say it was more of a case of being offered a lot less than what he was making at USC. That and his wife thought LA would jump start her career.

That's the problem. I will be keeping an eye on USC's coaching search.

If he could make Preston Williams play anywhere as well as Marquise Lee did his two years under Martin then get him back in Orange.

Amari seems like a great fit for our wr screens and end-arounds (even though I've seen enough of those to last till he gets here...) He runs strong for his size and likely will put on some more lbs in the next couple of years.

Tee's wife was accepted to USC, she started school this fall.

Or he could have used the Tennessee job offer as leverage for a raise. Kirby Smart has done this multiple times, and so has Mike Gundy. Seems to be working.

It will be interesting to see what happens if a new coach comes in and brings his own staff. Doubt Tee will want to hang out in So Cal and be unemployed.

Tee was kept on from Kiffin's tenure, think SC will do everything they can to keep him - like hands off.

We know, and respect he's a Vol, we all think he'll return home someday...with a lot of strong WC recruiting ties.

Maybe. I don't know. All I can go on is what I've heard from former players. And the consensus was he was given an offer that was less than what USC was offering. Everyone of them say Tee is a VFL. It's also worth mentioning that he apparently reached out at one point to start his coaching career here in Knoxville, and he was told by Dooley that we were good with the coaches we had at the time. That's the reason he started his career at Kentucky.

I have no doubt if Pat Haden remains the Ad that every effort will be made to retain Tee, But from what I'm hearing Haden may be on the chopping block when the season concludes as well. A lot of moving parts right now.

Oh, USC will let Pat take over fundraising for the Coliseum, he is not in good health.

It's far from just Pat that loves Coach Tee, boosters are firmly on his side, like they were before. The kids out here love the guy.

Nothing wrong with doing what you love and getting paid for it, in LA. Can't blame him.

Any chance he gets promoted to offense coordinator to keep him

It was not the right time for tee or his family. He was very torn about that decision. It was the hardest decision he had to make, but his family comes first and the timing was off. He wants to be back in Knoxville. It kills me to see so many hate on a man for being an upright person, and a man that is a VFL through and through.

from what I would call "a person close to the program".

“Tennessee is a great place,” he said. “It’s home, so you always have to be open to the home school. They’re getting things right up there. Coach Jones knows what he’s doing.”

On Tee Martin
“It’s a big factor,” Rodgers said. “That’s been my dream for a while, to be coached by him since he started coaching in college. Him being a coach is a big factor.”

“Especially if it’s closer to home,” he said. “That would definitely be a big factor. If he did move I would definitely consider that school because I definitely want to play with my dad.
