'17 TN ATH Jacoby Stevens (LSU commit)

Unless there's some new 247 site I haven't seen, Tee isn't the #6 player in the country. He's #16.

Jacoby Stevens is #22.

So....for anyone to say that it isn't even close between the two is going straight for potato.

That's the composite rankings that take into account other sites rankings like rivals, scout, and espn.

According to only 247's own metric, he's #6 overall player in the country, the #1 WR in the nation, and #1 player in the state of Tennessee. Here's the link: 2017 Top Football Recruits

Jacoby by 247's ranking not the composite is the #20 overall and the #3 player in the state of Tennessee.

247 has Trey Smith ranked as the #2 player in the state, however, he dips in their composite rankings because rivals doesn't think much of him. I believe they have Trey Smith outside the top 250 which is why he's in the 50s according to the composite rankings.

For accuracy's sake, you're going by the composite. He's talking about 247's solo rankings.

It's laughable that some you think these UGA recruiting writers care that much about Tennessee. They go out of their way to leave UT out of articles? Please...

I know Tee is great and deserves his rating but JaCoby Stevens is incredible. To say it isn't close is ignorant.

JaCoby reminds me of Sean Taylor. Covers the field but will come up in run defense and absolutely destroy the ball carrier.

Just because he is flirting with a rival school doesn't mean we have to look for holes in his game or diminish his talent.

Be patient. Georgia is the flavor of the month.

Georgia building a dynasty... Mmmmm, ok, never heard that one before..

Anybody ever wonder why 247 has a composite ranking? It's because they understand that they may not always be right.

Let's use 247's rankings instead of composite though. So...show of hands. How many people in here think the difference in quality between #6 and #20 is so much that it could be said that they are not even comparable and the talent level is not even close?

I'm going ahead and marking D4H's hand as raised.

sooooo......there's 1.

I'm not one of those guys. I'm just as hard on guys on our team as I am on players of other teams.

Jacoby simply doesn't wow me on tape. Now there aren't many highlights of him out there so that could explain my hesistance to cosign on him being the best in the state.

From what I've seen he's nothing like Sean Taylor. Nowhere close to the same in size or athleticism. Sean Taylor is once in a generation. I just don't see that.

Sean Taylor 6'2" 212

JaCoby Stevens 6'2" 200

Yeah nowhere close

I'm not agreeing with D4H :yuck:

But wasn't Taylor like 235 lbs? Not saying Jacoby can't get there after a few years in a S&C program.

I'm about to mark you down as a hand raised mister. Don't think I'm not watching.

Not coming out of HS. And Stevens kinda is that kind of prospect. Can dominate at WR if he wants but is a menace on defense. Not out of the realm this kid is special and not close to being a run of the mill ball player.

You can trust high school measureables. I don't. Marquez North went from 6'4" in high school to 6'3" in college to 6'2" at the combine.

All I can go is by what I see on film. Sean Taylor looked much bigger on film than Jacoby. If Taylor was only 6'2", then I'll be shocked if Jacoby is taller than 6'0".

In terms of physique, Stevens looks more like Patrick Peterson than Sean Taylor.

Think about how well Butch recruited before his first season selling his vision. Now imagine him having 7 years of being the #2 guy at the biggest dynasty in recent college football history.

That is the power of what UGA is selling right now and it is attractive and working.

BUT, as long as they have an average year and we have a great year on the field we can easily overcome it on the prospects we are competing with.

I can't think of a year where our on the field results will have such a strong correlation with how we will do with our elite targets as this year.
