It's never acceptable to slander a kid because he doesn't choose your school. However, I would hope you guys would counsel parents that all schools have bad fans and you never know if it is a real fan posting on VN. I would think the attacks on Twitter are way more hurtful. Even then, it could be a troll. The good thing about VN is it is one of if not the best message boards. Therefore, it gets more traffic and attention than other boards.

D1, I would be interested in your comments about the lawsuit and affect, if any, it is having in recruiting in the area.

I'm not particularly believing "hogwash I read on message boards". I know for a fact there was an issue at one time, and by your own admission, you have confirmed that in your last sentence. So, it has/had some merit at one time.

What I didn't realize, was that it was water under the bridge at this point, so thanks for clarifying that. I only want the best for Tennessee, and Buck and his organization have far too much contact with elite Tennessee talent for there to be a festering rift between he and the staff. Glad to hear that it has been resolved.

Honestly folks, this site is mainly opinion and conjecture.

There are some educated fans here but the recruits and parents need to understand these sites don't necessarily reflect anymore than grand hyperbole taken with a grain of salt. Move on.

Agree with you 100%. The significance is that the kids (and their parents) understand that many of these posters are the ones who will either be cheering for or yelling at them from the stands. Furthermore, they understand that there is an extremely fine line between this board proclaiming a kid a "VFL" and this board proclaiming a kid soft and a loser, often due to circumstances far beyond the kid's control.

Read some of the negative crap on these boards. Then ask yourself if you would want the author of that junk screaming in your ear while you are just trying to enjoy living the life of a college athlete.

We have a passionate fan base, which is usually a good thing. However, there are some downsides and, imho, this is one of them.

lol at some of you all being critical of de1. He is doing us a favor by posting what he knows. He doesn't have to. I am beginning to wonder if he bothered some of you all at work. Did he throw rocks at you while you were mowing lawns?

Y'all can choose to accept the information or not. Take it with a grain of salt, if you will. But blasting him when y'all know recruiting is a fluid situation? C'mon. I expect this from Bruin but the rest of y'all? Really?

Thanks for what you post de1. Thanks to all who post meaningful information. It doesn't matter if you are close to the situation or not. I enjoy everyone's comments when they are constructive and not full of drama. We have a wealth of knowledge on this board and great commentary. I am grateful for our great VN family and community.

D1 brings great info to the board, but he himself has been critical of several recruits. I think a few posters are seeing his comments as hypocritical.

His sharing of info about disgruntled players and them threatening to transfer if coaches aren't fired is the part here that really matters in this context. IMO that's betraying the trust of the players

Also being critical of coaches on here is very hypocritical for the fact he is now saying these same boards are hurting us with kids recruitment.

Do the parents not take into account that you don't know whether someone on a UT message board, posting as a UT fan is really a UT fan in real life?

I mean you REALLY can not take ANYTHING seriously on a free message board in this situation. If you are advising them I would make sure they understand this and tell them not use it in their judgments of schools.

I have to agree. I would think having the influence of NPA and then openly being critical (justified or not) of individual coaches on the staff is just as damaging, if not more so, than random people posting gibberish on a message board. Additionally, I agree with the hypocritical stance of admonishing those posters while continuing to be openly critical of those indivdual coaches.

De1 I agree with most of what you are saying here. I've said a few times on here that whether we think what is said on this or any message board should affect a recruits decision, that's irrelevant. What matters is what the recruit and there family think about it.

With that said, I hope when you get calls or comments from parents and kids about ignorant message board posts, you let them know not to pay attention to them. They truly are meaningless, When you have a fan base the size of UT's, there are gonna be more than a few that have crazy ideas and comments. All teams have their share of these type fans.

At the end of the day, what someone like me says on an internet message board shouldn't have a bearing on what school a recruit chooses. I understand that it sometimes does, right or wrong, I would just hope that you and others in positions similar to your's would be the voice of reason in those situations.
